Tomorrow’s the big day!

Recommended Posts

So my surgery is tomorrow 17/1! I’m wracked with nerves right now. Hoping I can get a good night’s sleep and not be up anxious all night .

Any final words of wisdom are most welcome! Will be meeting you all on the loser’s bench soon!

Good luck! Bring an eye mask and earplugs for peaceful sleep if you have them. Expect a lot of waiting tomorrow, especially if you're not first thing - delays are common. You'll do great!

Thank you so much! The anxiety today is through the roof. Just waiting on the nurse to call me and give me my operation time :). Thank you for the heads up about all the waiting - that’s enough time for anyone to work themselves up into a stupor [emoji23]. Excellent suggestions regarding the mask and earplugs! I just packed them in my bag now, thank you! Xoxo

Bring lounge pants or PJ bottoms....it makes walking the halls in your hospital gown a lot less breezy:) Best wishes for a safe effective procedure!

I just burst with laughter [emoji23]!!! Reminds me of that episode of the Simpson’s when Homer’s hospital gown blows in the wind while he’s walking the halls hahaha. Thank you! I’ve packed some super stretchy lounge pants and bought underwear 3 sizes too big so I’m not constricted [emoji23].

Good luck. I hope you have a speed recovery. I'm a week from tomorrow and feel like it's taking forever.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
