Foul Mood After Weighing

Recommended Posts

Hi y’all!

Band to bypass on 12/12/17. I was losing weight pretty steadily and I’m really sticking to the rules and eating my required (at least) 68 g of Protein a day. I’m not perfect at getting at least 80 ounces, but even thru the holidays I managed to lose a few pounds. But how did my weight jump three lbs overnight? I was just 246 the other day and now I’m 249.4? WTF? My weight has ALWAYS fluctuated like this so I shouldn’t be surprised but Jesus I’m only like a month out and only 26 (well, 23) pounds down since before my liquid diet. Shouldn’t it be way more than that considering my liquid diet started the Monday after thanksgiving?

You KNOW this weight gain is not real...you cannot gain 3lbs overnight. It is Water retention, or BM related and will go back down. Chill, you are doing great!

What melliecat said. I ate salty ham the other day and my weight popped up a pound. Drank a bunch of Water to clear it out and it's down again. No worries, you're doing fine!

Omg I wish people would stop putting the word “only” in front of extraordinarily large weight loss numbers. Would you ever say I “only” gained 23 lbs in a month? No. You wouldn’t. Stop diminishing success. If you went out on the street and complained to random people on the street that you only lost 23lbs you would not have a sympathetic response.

Your monthly weightloss outpaces most people by a significant margin. That is a monthly weight loss number more typical of someone with a much larger BMI. Think in terms of my 600lb life. They are in the first few months losing typically around 5% of their body weight a month...it then drops and slows from here. Do the math on 5% of your starting weight and then Celebrate losing double that!

There is no such thing as gaining 3lbs of fat overnight, nor is there such a thing as losing 3lbs of fat over night.

Everyone has normal weight fluctuations for many reasons. And weight loss is not linear for anyone. It looks a bit like a mountain range. Fits and starts, and yes very short term gains...but over the long term it looks like a slope.

@Travelher

Good to see you on here. I only get on BP occasionally these days, and it is nice to see someone from the "old days."

Glad to see that you have done so well! Congratulations!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
