Today was my big day!!! I got home about 5 this eventing. I had to stay a few hours post of because when I would fall asleep my O2 Sat would drop(even with oxygen and my cpap). I feel much better than I thought I would. I received the new ap lapband small. It was the first one my doctor had placed. She had to make that incision a litle larger and said that I had a little bleeding so I may be more sore there. She said that the band is pretty snug and has about 3cc of saline in it. I am drinking Water without any difficulty. I also had a popsicle. I haven't been brave enought to try anything else. My left shoulder hurts a bit, but I know its just gas. The heating pad really helps. I am kinda scared to go to sleep tonight for fear that I will not remember to breathe after the o2 sat problems that I had at the hospital. I'm sure that I will be fine. Honestly, I feel SOOOOO much better than I expected, but still plenty sore. Thank you all for your support and prayers. I look forward to hearing updates from the others who were banded today as well!!!

I HAVE A LAPBAND WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congradulations on your new AP band. I have had mine for 6 weeks and enjoy it. I have CPAP and did not have problems with it. My doctor required us to stay in the Hosp. overnight and did an upper GI the AM to make sure tha band was in the right place before we could drink liquids.

Me too, I had to stay overnight and then when they were ready to let me go I got sick to my stomach and they let me stay another night. My travel to home was a 4 hour drive.

I live 3 miles from the hospital. My doctor gave me her cell phone number incase I need anything. I am also an RN. But sometimes nurses make the worst patients. I really feel like I am doing great!!

I am very happy for you!!! Dr Querry is also placing my band. Im having it done on Nov 2nd. I am trying very hard to stick with the liquids but I have slipped up a couple of times. How did you do with that part?

I slipped up a few times too. That is why I was afraid she would not be happy with me. Overall I did well. I lost 13 pounds on the liquid diet. If you have a bad day just regroup and get back at it. Where do you live?? I just love Dr Querry. Her bedside manner is wonderful.. She even gave me her cell phone number in case I have any questions. I live in Pittsburg, Tx. If Dr Querry is banding you then you must not be too far away.

First of all congrats on the surgery today.... I'm glad to read your feeling so good. I wanted to know did the AP band cost $$ out of your pocket?

Did you have to request the smaller band?? I was just wondering. I heard the low profile port is a cost that insurance does not cover. Is the low profile port the same as the AP port?

My pre op appt is 10/29 surgery is on the 1st november...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
