Any February Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Greetings from the PACU, where I've been for the last ten hours. Apparently I may be here overnight; I'm not sure why, but I haven't been transferred to a room. As long as I'm lying down or standing up, everything is copacetic. I've been walking around the unit a few times, crunched some ice chips... doing okay.

Team PACU for the win! I slept off and on for a few hours (did you know NBC was reairing the men's free skate at 4 AM?). I've started my drinking test, so I'm out of the hospital bed and in the recliner.

This is no time for pride or propriety: I am gassy. That's the majority of the issue right now - gas. Pain isn't awful, actually fairly manageable, but good heavens I have to fart.

My surgery was 2/12 also. It’s painful when it’s too big of a gulp so I will take smaller sips. I forget sometimes. And my stomach is constantly growing. Even at night. Crazy

My stomach makes some weird noises now after every sip of liquid! It’s weird! I think it’s normal though..my mom had the RNY 10 years ago and her stomach still makes noise constantly.

It’s so hard not being able to eat junk but I know that’s what got me to where I was so I’m trying to stay strong! I’m 4 days post op and I’m on full liquids, I enjoy sugar free Jello but my sleeve does not like sugar free apple sauce :(

Hang in there !

Same! It's somewhat painful sometimes with every sip, do you feel that?

Tomorrow is the big day...feeling happy but nervous. This is the second bariatric procedure I've had. Ten years ago, I had a lap band procedure, but the band was removed in an emergency surgery about one year ago. Turns out, 1/3 of my stomach slipped through my band. Very painful. I was really worried about putting the weight back on, and I had gained 20 pounds since the removal of the band. I was supposed to have the surgery on January 3, but it had to be postponed. So, Happy Valentine's Day to me!

Had my surgery on 2/14. Along with the sleeve, Wednesday's surgery included fixing my hiatal hernia and moving my old lapband port. I spent two days/nights in the hospital and came home yesterday. I'm glad to be home, where I can get some rest. I'm very bloated-I've only been able to burp, not pass gas. I'm hurting but taking pain meds. I'm on the clear liquid phase right now, but my doctor says I can begin full liquids tomorrow. I'm just trying to make sure I can get in all the Water I need. The nutritionists who work with my surgeon gave out tiny 1oz cups to regulate the volume of water swallowed. My doctor wants me to drink 60 oz of water per day. It's 6:30, and I've only managed to get 30 in so far. I do worry about getting enough Protein and water everyday.

I have having some regrets, but I know they will pass once I heal properly and am used to injesting tiny amounts of everything.

Congratulations! I too was sleeved on Valentine’s Day as a symbol of love to myself. I managed to get all my Protein in yesterday but only 40 oz of Water. No BM yet some gas. Are you taking enoxoparin shots and take urosidil and Prilosec ?

I have the same! It sucks but what helps is instead of breathing in with every sip I breathe out.

Wow I'll try that thank you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
