I have a quick question I'm in the last stages of getting approval for the gastric sleeve surgery,up until yesterday I was excited.Reason being is because I decided to call my insurance company just to ask some general questions.I basically asked about coverage I have BCBS NY.I wanted to know about the coverage of the surgery the rep I spoke with yesterday mentioned something about my out of pocket cost saying that if it was at like $600 it would be 80% coverage and if it was at $3500 it would be 100% coverage. She didn't go in depth on my situation specifically she was really just speaking in general well anyways I'm worried now cause i started doing the math and I really can't afford to pay huge amounts like I have bills so idk. Also she mentioned they cover up to $20,000 in full for bariatric surgery as like the max amount.I guess my question is if there is a out of pocket cost is that something that is expected all at once,or do they allow you to pay it over a course of time.Or is that I have to pay it up front or no surgery at all?Sorry if I'm all over the place but I'm just extremely worried now...and maybe I am just getting ahead of myself and need to be patient and wait to see what the outcome is but that is eaier said than done

I had to pay the hospital like $2000. My BCBS covered something like $25000. The hospital wanted 40% up front.

The guy at the hospital quoted me something like $26,000 something. I’m not exactly sure because he said the number and I was SO shocked! Maybe it is, if BCBS will pay $25,000 and I had to pay around $2,000?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
