How many days until that stall people keep talking about

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Dec 11.

and I know I've heard of a stall @ three weeks. But what I'm nto sure of, is it when the three week begins or after the three weeks

When exactly is this stall? The reason I'm asking is because last week I haven't lost but like 1-2 pounds. and so that would have been my third week (I think) and I've been kidna worried and depressed about it. Part of the problem is I am weighing on diff scares. Gym scale, doctors scale, my scale and they all vary. ( I will be stopping that pronto)

But when is this stall exactly?

Have you guys who have had surgery experienced this "stall"

If you lost 1 to 2 pounds in a week, you're NOT in a weight loss stall. :)

A true stall occurs when you're not losing pounds or inches. Also, numerous fortunate people travel through their weight loss journeys without ever stalling, so it isn't a foregone conclusion.

Personally, my '3rd week stall' occurred a week early, during the second week.

Keep in mind that, as time passes, there will be weeks where you don't post a loss at all. My losses were painstakingly slow...after the first 2 months, I posted a monthly loss of 1 to 7 pounds monthly. Yes, virtually all of my monthly losses were in the single digits and it took 18 months for me to lose 100 pounds.

It's different for everyone as Intro said. Honestly the stall thing annoys me more than anything else on this site. Not because of your question, but because I've been there like you and you'll eventually realize how pointless it is to fret over it. Just accept that it's going to happen, it'll be annoying to see the scale stuck for a week or two, but then things will start moving again. You also have to remember that you can lose inches without losing pounds. This is why worrying about the scale isn't worth it.

One of the best things you can do is this:

1) Pick a day and weigh yourself only once a week (so pick Fridays or whatever day you please)

2) Weigh yourself first thing in the morning (if possible after visiting the restroom and before eating/drinking anything)

3) Only use one scale

Edit: 4) Either weigh yourself in your birthday suit or wear the same clothes when you weigh yourself. I always tried to wear roughly the same thing when I had to do my weigh-ins at the doc's office.

I was on 12/12 and my third week didn't lose weight, but I'm pretty sure it is due to hydration. I'm sure there will be other weeks where nothing happens too. Good advice on weighing yourself, that's what I do as well.

I’ve had a few “stalls” where I only lost 0.2 pounds in a day. I thought my weight loss had slowed to the point where I was only losing half a pound a day, but then today I was down almost 2 pounds since yesterday.

I didn't have what I would consider a 'stall'. Perhaps I was just lucky as I know so many experience them at week three. I haven't kept any notes on how much I lost on each week but it was a good steady loss.

If you are losing at all, even if its half a pound a week, its not a stall.

Congrats on the surgery !

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
