Eating after second week

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if I am over doing . I am on my 14 days of sleeve and already getting tuna fish and soft meat down pretty well. Not big portion but enough to fell full. Worry about getting leak. Told my doctor yesterday and she didn’t seems worry. Anyone can get food down well like me?

At 2 weeks postop I was allowed to move from liquid diet to pureed foods. I too was able to get down tuna fish (which I did not puree but chewed the heck out of) and then chicken and black Beans which I did puree. I think that is standard. Just be sure to not overdo it. I always get a pressure right around my diaphragm when I know I've had enough.

I'm at the same stage as you, day 17. I'm getting these types of food down as well.

I am also at day 17 and I am having these foods. So glad to read someone else is experiencing the same thing I was worried.

Isn't it strange how each DR has their own guidelines. I had to drink Protein Drinks for 2 weeks before my RNY and then for 4 weeks after. I was so afraid to eat!! I didn't want to mess up my last hope!! That is just how I felt. I definitely couldn't eat a steak, I still have problems with beef. Have a great evening.

Tomorrow is 5 weeks postop for me. They told me not to start eating normal food until 6 weeks and I have a NUT class on January 3rd. However, I have stopped pureeing my foods and am tolerating it fine. I kind of mash up my veggies and fruits that they allowed me for this 6-week period, not totally pureed, and then chew my chicken or Protein like shrimp/fish really good. I have not moved onto beef or nuts, etc., yet.

I’m on week 5 and haven’t had many issues at all. I have been able to tolerate everything I have eaten so far and I’m on soft/texture foods. I have one more week and then my nutritionist said I can then start to incorporate all foods just little by little to see what I can and can not tolerate.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
