It sounds like to me that she weighed it out because she wanted to be in control of the portion size. What is confusing about that? This isn't a woman who ate a whole bag of chips or box of Cookies. Her choosing chicken, her weighing out her chicken, TELLS ME that she is already moving in the right direction. She will do just fine after surgery.

I'm not going to say that. Cheating is cheating. It's best to try not to cheat. I'm sure we have all cheated. But I won't say weldone for cheating. Yes chicken is on other plans it's not on hers. And I know some surgeons will not do surgery if THEIR plan was not stuck to. Whether it's someone else's plan or not. But if its the better thing to say you say it. And leave me to say what I already did lol.I'm 5 months post. What do you know about what I researched lol seen as I'm doing amazing thanks. My liver was nice and tiny.

Announcement everyone, there is a new cop in town and her name is @dreamingsmall. Are you going to call her surgeons office and tell them she ate 2 oz of chicken? And for the record, they ONLY care if the liver has shrunk. There are 100's of surgeons that don't even do a pre-op diet. I wonder how ever do they do surgery.

"Cheating is cheating" :51_scream: Had she done something to actually jeopardize her surgery, I'd say... pick up the pieces and make better decisions. However, she didn't.

The reason I joined this forum is because I wanted a support system and to bounce ideas off of one another. Now, mind you, apart of any support system should be someone to hold you accountable. HOWEVER, I think what you are doing is a bit overkill.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but I've done enough research and talked to enough people to know why what she did is not the end of the world. So take your 5 months, and use it for good.

I’m feeling negative energy and this isn’t what I’m here for. I guess this forum isn’t what I was hoping for. This is hard for all of us. We all have our own battle that we deal with daily that may have us 2 seconds from eating an entire box of chocolates. I only want to have good energy and give good energy. I want to give support and encouragement. If can’t do the same I feel so sorry for you. I appreciate you@AshAsh1 and thanks for the link I learned something new today!

No problem. I'm proud of you for measuring that chicken! That tells me you are going to hit this out of the park!

Today was such a horrible day for me. I started my liquid diet the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I had been doing fine until today. I had 2 ounces of grilled chicken breast. I’m so devastated. I don’t know how this is going to affect me. My surgery is next Thursday the 14th. I’m so angry with myself right now.

We have spent our lives being angry at ourselves, feeling guilty, not good enough...STOP. You are almost there, 2oz of chicken is fine. Do your best and move forward! You got this!

Did I tell you I am concerned about what you think of me ? You haven't even had surgery yet and you want to be going off like you are. Don't worry when your time will come you will understand the importance on attention to detail . You have missed the point. Your acting like you know every surgeon. You know nothing about were I am. I am in the UK AND no they don't just care if your liver has shrunk they care if your able to stick to their plan this is not about other people who don't need a pre op diet. It depends on the person the surgeon.the hospital. Your weight. Pre existing conditions. So don't try and educate me on what you don't know. I'm not wasting my time on someone who thinks they know it all before they have even started. I HAVE seen UK forums were people have said their surgeon postponed surgery because they didn't stick to plan their liver would have shrank as they didn't have anything substantial but he wanted to see them change their ways before surgery to increase likely hood of success after. In the UK surgery for most people is on the nhs and the waiting list is unbearably long so if someone doesn't stick to it exactly as that hospital dictates they can move on to the next person they feel is more deserving who stick to requirements. I never said it was the end of the world. Neither am I judging the individual. But a Stern word helped me many times. I have no reason to want someone to fail so I will be honest and frank. I'll not comment on any topics you post. But I've lost 60 lbs and I just hit my 5 months and I can say some Stern words along my journey has kept me straight. This is not all sunshine and rainbows. If you don't like it shutup and block me. Because I won't change. I wish the op the best. Calling me out on each post as if it will make a difference to me. Your wasting your time. I'm unsubbing this post. So please feel free to reply. I won't read it. I can see you can argue with a paper bag. You don't seem to need a response. So I won't give you one. Khandir,

it’s been awhile since I’ve been on the site but like you I like to read what others are going through and see if anyone else is having the same thoughts as myself.

Dont beat yourself up over a small cheat, it was only 2 oz and it was protein... not a bag of cookies..

I just asked the nursing dept for the program I’m on at the hospital I’ll be having my surgery ( by pass) about the 2 week diet as well because I’ve been mostly on Protein Drinks due to a good allergy and finding your me to eat during the day ( stressful job). Yes, the 2 week diet is for shrinking the liver but my surgeon also has people on the Clear Liquids the last few days before surgery to keep any food residue from leaking into the stomach cavity and causing any infections... I’m glad he’s that thorough on this. But unless you had eaten a lot, I would just check in with your nursing staff and not beat yourself up over it and keep up the good work with your progress!!!

Ignore the nay sayers and just know there are all kinds of sabotagers, just ignore them.

Let us know how you are doing!

My surgery was rescheduled twice. The second time shaved four days off of the liquid diet for me. I was really worried that my liver would be too large, but the surgeon was able to do my bypass without difficulty. I remember asking him the next day how my liver looked lol.

Get back on plan, you’ll be fine. I’m sure lots of people have a nibble here or there. It’s a huge change going to a liquid diet. I found eating warm items like cream Soup if you can have them helped me feel less hungry.

Thank you so much for the support. I really felt like I didn’t want to come back to the site but I decided not to let bad energy affect my body or mind. My surgery is Thursday and I’ve only had that one punch since starting the shakes.

Now the only other thing for me is I’ve been hearing people say they had to do a laxative the day before their surgery. I wasn’t told that at all. Being on this forum has really shown me that each surgeon has a very different program.

Thanks again and good luck to you!! Positive vibes always rock!! :-)

My surgery is the 14th too! I'm not sure why, but no one put me on a liquid diet. I've been on 6 months supervised diet/weigh ins and I'm down 15 lbs since Aug. However, after all the research and reading, and listening to all of you, I'm starting liquid Monday before Thursday surgery just to be on the safe side. Good luck, you will be fine. LEAN, STRONG, HEALTHY, HAPPY! that is my mantra :-)

Awesome December 14th!!! Since I started my liquid diet I’m down 15lbs. But I’m down 32lbs in total. I’m excited for Thursday!! I wish I could blink and yay Thursday.

Positive vibes, positive body!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
