Bra Shopping

Im kinda embarressed to post this thread, but I need help!

I need a new bra. :ermm

Last time I bought a bra was before my band, so that was 40+ pounds ago. So there's extra room in there - not something Im used to. And since Im in need and JC Pennys is having a big sale on them, I decided that it was time.

For the first time in my bra life, Ive realized that I have no idea how to pick one out. I used to get a certain "granny style" that is made for large busted women. But things have changed now, and I realize that NOW I actually have a choice.

Oh geez, the choices...... there are some that make you pointed, some that flatten you (minimize), some that make you rounder, underwire, no wire, wide straps, WIDER straps, front clasp, back clasp....

I know its a personal preference, but should they be round or pointed? And what does the wire thing do??

Only on LBT can I ask questions like this.

I went shopping in Dec and I had to try on alot to find my size. I use to be a 42DDD

now I am a 38DD so I do not know sizes if I lost in cup but I know I did lose in around.

I think anyway.

I use the underwire and on straps I use the padded but the best thing is I do not have to spend 25.00 for 1 bra I bought the new ones at JC Pennys for 10.00 which is such a big differance money wise. Next venture is the undees XXX is way to big but they are so comfy

I live right by Dallas and there is a specialty shop that carries every bra to man and nice little ol ladies that will measure you and find the bra you need for the occasion you want. They even can custom fit them to you with trimming and sewing in the right places. They are genious and I had no idea they had places like this until I was looking for the right bra to go under my wedding dress. They even repair old bras to make them fit better. Before, if a wire popped out I would have to spend another $44 on a bra at Lany Bryant, but they fix em right up for you! You should look for some where in your area that does this. Hopefully there is an old fashioned place like this in all cities!!

Paula, we really got into this topic on an old thread; see http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=3728.

I'm still wearing underwires, but I'm ready for a new style: big strips of duct tape under the boobs, with perpendicular strips running up over the gazongas and shoulders. Supportive without wires, plus you get that special silver glitter! Guys, I'm not sure we want this style adapted for your locker-room needs. That tape can be mighty sticky.

Lisa: the size on the box will say LARGE, EXTRA LARGE, and MUCHO LARGE. The actual size inside the condom wrapper will be

LARGE=regular (meaning 5 inches hard),

EXTRA LARGE=small (4 inches hard),

MUCHO LARGE=extra small (need tweezers to find hard or soft).

Sorry had to throw that in.

i just saw in the paper, jc penny is having a special with bras they said in the paper, there are people there to measure, and make sure you get the right fit... hope it helps.

OK this whole measuring thing is throwing me. How can they measure you? Do they give you a bra then measure you. Do they measure you in your existing bra? If so then why measure you. You are already in a bra. DUH!! Am I missing something? How does getting fitted for bra's work? Do they ask you to take the girls out and then you bend over and they measure how far the pendulum swings??? Please explain it to me lucy!!!

penni, as pretty of a picture that sounds to be..... they measure under your breast, then around the breast that determines the number and size of the cup...they do it in your current bra... i'm sure they would adjust after trying them on too.... hope in Enlightened you... haha

ps dylans mom,,,, i put my post, didn't know you had just said the same thing...

greg, don't you think the customers are gonna wonder why it's taking over an hour for you to measure them for a bra???

That is exactly what I was wondering.

Ok if they measure you in your current bra then how can they tell what size cup you REALLY are? I mean how accurate can that really be?

Am I missing something here?

I think I like my idea better of letting the girls out and measuring the pendulum swing. Doesn't that sound more accurate?

They don't get to come out and play too often so why not let them swing sometimes.
