I am a horrible snacker at work. I know I should snack on fruits and veggies, but they just do not do it for me. My cravings don't go away until I get what I want - which is usually chocolate! :(

Anyone going through or battled this struggle and have any real tips that work?

I know my answer stinks, but I had a similar issue pre-surgery and I had to learn that sometimes you just have to tell yourself no.

Try chocolate Protein Shakes which should help you stay full longer and maybe help curb the urge to snack.

My go to snack is usually string cheese.

I will try going back to the shakes. They really did not seem to do anything for me, but it's worth a shot. I love cheese...pepper jack cheese is my second go to snack lol! Thank you

Holy hell holiday treats at work season!

Temptations are reality anywhere you go. You can't control what foods are around you. You can control what you decided to eat. Yes, bring your own food and snack items to work.

Sweet tooth Snacks -

Fresh strawberries dipped in hershey's sugar free Syrup.

Protein pumpkin pie mousse:

Sugarfree vanilla pudding, pumpkin puree, vanilla Protein Powder, cinnamon and allspice

Quest bar cookies:

  1. Preheat oven to 325F (163C).
  2. Cut the Quest bar into 8 pieces.
  3. Place the pieces on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  4. Bake for 3 minutes, then flatten the Cookies.
  5. Bake 3 minutes more.
  6. Let cool slightly, and enjoy!

It's hard to control it when I feel like I have no self discipline. Ugh!! So frustrating. I usually drink a water bottle full of Water along with water I eat to make myself feel a little better BUT MY ultimate goal is to say no and stick to it.

I have the same struggle. My office is filled with candy, chips and free food. As the holidays approach, it is only going to get worse.

I don't always succeed, but I have tried to at least curb the temptation. When I see something, before I take it, I ask myself "do I actually want this, or do I just want it because it is there?"

Usually the answer is "no. I just want it because I saw it and it caught my eye." Sometimes I actually DO want the cookie or sandwich or whatever it is and I'll take it. Not the best choice, but at least I know it is something I want and not me on autopilot.

Someone once said to me that the hardest muscle to strengthen is your no-muscle, and it's totally true.

I am a SAHM, and the biggest challenge for me the last few weeks has been the Halloween candy sitting in the pantry. I tell myself no, I won't eat any of it, but I regularly fail. One thing I have going for me right now is that the candy is now down to the stuff I don't like, so no interest in it any more.

Hang in there...

Buy yourself some chocolate sugar free Jello pudding cups. Eat one when you have an urge for chocolate. I like strawberries with the chocolate sugar free jello pudding cups. I haven't had any in the past 4 months, but you've now got me craving them. Thanks a lot!

LOL!

I need to start doing that more, asking myself if I really want it or not. Yes, you said it, "autopilot" that is exactly what it is...specially being in front of a computer at work. But, I'm going to work at it and swap out some of my bad Snacks for better ones.

Try using an app like loseit to estimate the amount of calories, carbs, etc before you give in to the chocolate craving. I think once you see that the numbers are clearly not in your favor, you'll make the right choice. This helps me immensely.

I think you are right and that's a great suggestion, thank you!

I'm the same way!! I try to take healthy Snacks but sometimes doesn't work. I've noticed the busier I am the less likely I am to snack [emoji4][emoji4]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
