Considering Gastric Sleeve but I have Gout

Recommended Posts

I just had the surgery 3 weeks ago, already 28 lbs, I ate oysters just before my surgery because I didn’t know if I would ever have them again. 5 days post surgery I had a gout attack. I took preginisone and it worked. My interest told me later it may have been the surgery not the oysters

Don't fret, you might still be able to have a few oysters in maintainance. Great to have a 28lb loss, I'd say you are off to a good start. Keep going, we all know you're capable of doing it. Good luck, with the gout, it's a miserable thing to have. My late husband's Aunt Lois had it.

Just checking in with those who have posted here and anyone else to see how their gout has behaved since surgery?

I have had one flare up (big toe) 6 months before surgery, but since getting sleeved a month ago, my toe is really bothering me again and I can't do much walking. Not to the pain levels last year, but it's there nonetheless. I'm not due to meet my PCP for bloods for about a week and I'll manage until then, but I suppose I'm wondering if this is something that I'm going to have to medicate for the long term, or if it will ease once I get more weight off and stabilise.

I have not had a flare up since surgery. I felt one coming on, but I was letting myself dehydrate with trying to move houses and wasn't getting all my fluids in. I just got back on the liquids again heavy and it went away the next day. I haven't been on any meds since surgery.

I’m a month and 4 days out it’s been an up and down recovery process. Had a couple gout attacks ended up on crutches but all is well now. Actually will be returning back to work midweek. I’m gonna get back to my cherry extract to keep the gout away

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
