Vitamin Patches

Recommended Posts

I'm still about a month away from my Gastric Bypass Surgery and am looking at options for Vitamins, I'm already on a handful of medications a couple times a day and am not all that excited about throwing a handful of vitamins into the mix. Is anyone using vitamin patches? Are they effective? Seems like an easier option but want to get some input before I buy any.

What a coincidences I was watching a video about that yesterday, those Vitamins patch.. but the lady that was using it still was doing the chewable one as well, cuz she ask and was told that your body doesn’t adsorb as much .. so what she does is .. when she misses a day or something she stick the patch . Or does both cuz she know with “bypass”... what she has ...she doesn’t absorb much either way.

I’m getting the chewable ones. Also I found Centrum liquid .. which is great too.

I am using the Patches but was only sleeved in October. I wear 3, a multi-vit, B12 and D Vitamin. They are a cloth patch and I find that they can wear off kind of easily under a sweatshirt if they are on my arm so I am cautious as to where I place them. I like the convenience because I hate taking pills and knew that I wouldn't. I have not had labs yet so I'm not sure if they are doing the job and my surgeons office basically had no opinion on them good or bad.

I asked my nutritionist about Patches and she didn't recommend. She said it is difficult to tell how much you're really getting from them on a consistent basis. I still do the chewables, if you find ones you like it's not bad at all. I love the chocolate and caramel calcium chews, it's like having a treat.

I was able to stop taking two of my meds (for blood sugar and blood pressure) within the first month after surgery, maybe you will eventually be able to get off some of your meds.

My surgeons office has only had one other patient do the Patches and reported to me that they had good results. They are ordering some labs on me early to see where my levels are at the 3 month mark as opposed to waiting 6 months if they are not enough. I think a large nutritional variance can come with oral Vitamins and minerals as well. Some just make expensive pee. I will let you guys know! I hope they work for me because they are so easy!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
