Protein Cookie?

Recommended Posts

We are adults. We make our own choices.

My instructions from my dietician. Add healthy carbs after I lost 75% of my weight. The carbs added are to slow or stop weight loss for maintenance phase. Surgeons offices seem to give different instructions.

I was allowed Quest bars by the dietician..Nutrition facts below.Note Bottom of label. Says 3 active carbs? I have no idea about that.

So I found these Cookies today. They are called "My Cookie". They have 18 gms Protein, Screenshot_20171110-153334.thumb.jpg.14fd1a6c6cc590292af162a5e95705af.jpg I was so focused on the protein that I didn't pay attention to the carbs. What's your input. Are these ok, or finish them and find something different.

36g of carbs is the max im supposed to have in a day. So to eat it in one sitting wouldnt be so good. Same with the Quest bar. My NUT said those Protein Bars arent very good for us, that theres plenty of other healthy Snacks out there without so many carbs. To each his own, tho. I guess id rather just eat a regular cookie, which probably doesnt have anywhere near that level of carbs, and be done with it. They tell u that sometimes...that diet products can be worse than the full fat ones!

Those are the "net" carbs. Many people don't include Fiber or sugar alcohols when counting carbs so they'll subtract the fiber and sugar alcohols from the total carbohydrates listed.

I hear ya. I think its that crunch we're craving. Since i cant have crackers or chips or really anything "carby" until 6 months post, i ceave things too, so i dont blame ya. Im having a pickle right now to try and staunch my crunch craving, even though its salt content is probably drying me out something fierce!

It's not that I really want a cookie. I just thought it might be a nice alternative to a traditional Protein Bar. I'm just looking for higher Protein options bc I know that I'm not getting enough in. Also my nut never gave me specific numbers for the carbs, just protein 60 gms.

This does not look nutritious at all. Yes, it's high in protein but it is still relatively high in carbohydrates and calories. As an occasional snack, I think it's not bad but I wouldn't make this a daily thing.

Kay's has a bunch of pretty good Protein Snacks for the crunch. I bought some of the white cheddar and thought they were good .

Also my nut never gave me specific numbers for the carbs, just Protein 60 gms.

Heres what numbers my team has given me for guidelines, PER DAY:

Calories: up to 600
Protein: 60-80g
Fat: less than 25g
Carbs: less than 60g -- Net Carbs: less than 35g (regular Carbs minus Fiber = Net Carbs)
Fiber: up to 25g
Water: at least 64oz
Sugar: Wasnt given sugar gram guidelines.

Exercise: 30-60 mins (or 150-300 mins/week - a week being 5 days)

Hope this helps. Seems to be working fine for me. Though, I'm sure everyone one on this app has been given different numbers for their micros, since each doc/nutritionist has their own idea of dieting success. These numbers are just recommendations based on my team. Tweek ur daily numbers as ur body sees fit is always the best plan of attack! Good luck!

I have a question then, not Cookies, but rather about carbs. What about lentils and fruit? My dietitian says that without carbs, we'll crash. So I avoid breads and pastas and stick to Beans, lentils, vegetables and fruit. I'm not losing crazy weight, but I'm still losing 10 lbs a week. More manageable loss I guess.

Doesn't have that amount of Protein as well.

Protein Cookies or brownies are very filling. I used to eat them in the beginning (got tired of them after a few weeks though).

I don't buy into this "might as well eat"-mentality. Black and white. With protein cookies or brownies you eat only one - and that's it. With regular cookies... well, I suppose there might be room for a few others after the first?

I also don't get the hype about Quest bars. They taste like pure artificial sweetener to me. *YUCK*

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
