Hello all I’m 4 days post op. And have been in some pain . Anyone that’s had the gastric sleeve done already have any pointers for gas or retaining liquids ? I’ve been throwing everything up and I feel like I will end up going back to my doctor . So far today I’ve only gotten down 16oz of liquids at home . I drank 32oz but threw half up . Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Congrats, I’m had my sleeve on Oct 20. As far as gas, I chewed gas x tabs and walking really does help. Also take an acid blocker if your doctor prescribed you any. As for as liquids, I had to drink tart clear drinks or broth. Something about the salty and bitterness of the drink kepted my stomach settled. You also maybe trying to drink too much at on 1 time. It took me all day to get in 40oz of liquid. You can also try changing the temp of your drink. I preferred cold/cool liquids. Good luck.

Small sips of Water. Don’t try to take big gulps. Follow your doctors advice. Don’t try to eat anything you aren’t supposed to. I ate a few bites of lasagna 4 days post op because I was losing my mind. That was a really bad idea. In addition to the health risks it posed it also hurt really bad.

Congrats, I️ had my sleeve on 10/23. I️ got gas but I️ found that having warm broth helped me, it gets better I️ also had chobani drinkable yogurt with probiotic and that helped as well. Just try to drink small amounts and always stop eating before you get full that is when you vomit, which it only happen once for me. Best of luck

HI karamelmami - I was sleeved on 11/8/17 and am 5-days post-op today. I am new to this so I am not expert but I can share what worked for me.

Regarding advice, this far out (6-7 weeks before your surgery date), my advice is to relax and take pride in the reasons you have decided to do this surgery. Doing this was a kind of an affirmation for me and kept my nerves in check and made me happy because I began focusing on the outcome I will have.

Also, from a practical sense, you may also want to begin preparing - like you would plan for a vacation or trip. For example, maybe begin practicing those big changes sleevers have to make now... 1)things like eating Protein first, 2) the no drinking 30 minutes before eating and until 30 minutes after eating, etc. Also, read and re-read any doctor instructions you have received (my program has a manual) and start preparing your house with the items you will be allowed to eat. I did research on Vitamins, etc. to occupy my time.

I wish you all the best with your surgery and pray that you will achieve all you set out to do by doing it!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
