I am starting to stress bad. I had my surgery Aug 29th 2017 everything seemed to be going great so far but I feel like I'm getting cravings back and I feel like anything I eat even if it's just a protien shake that it's going to make me gain weight and all the weight i Lost is goin to come back. I'm at a stall and I fluctuate between 237 and 240 and I'm starting to lose hope and get depressed. I don't eat junk or barely any carbs if i do it's maybe for lunch while I'm at work. I take diet meds and I still feel hungry. I'm full for a little while and then my stomach feels empty and makes these crazy noises. I am terrified I am going to stretch my stomach... if i go back to liquids will my stomach shrink back? Idk what to do. I've been there so much in my life since this surgery and I feel like if this one thing I've worked so hard for messes up I'm ruined...

Hi. I haven’t had the surgery yet but when I worked for Jenny Craig (crazy I know) the one thing they taught their clients was when you start to stall that’s the time to increase your exercise a little more and you will start losing it again. I’ve also been told that when you think your hungry wait and if your truly hungry you will feel a sensation in your throat. I don’t know if any of this is helpful but any response is better than nothing, or so I’ve been told.

Fear of eating and regain is super common. I think most of us have felt it at least a little, and many of us feel it a LOT. But, if you don't eat, your body is going to take what it can from your muscles, organs, and bones. Meeting our nutrition goals is the only way to keep the machine running.

64+oz fluids

60+ grams Protein

vitamins/minerals

These are your minimum requirements, forever. Do you have a nutritionist you can talk to? He/she can help you make a plan for how to reach all your goals.

I'm a 63 yr old granny..had the sleeve done almost 4 yrs ago...I'm back to the wright I was the day of surgery. I never really lost that much ..maybe 55 pounds..but I sure can feel it now..I know now..you could remove my stomach...still find a way to eat...so..for me..I'm taking on a different mind set...not so much to lose..but to find a healthy balance..that has been the hardest...My son left for college 17 yrs ago...most of my eating was over the sink..in a chair...with the TV..helping my grandkids clean up they're plates...I've starting to go to TOPs..just to be with others ..a time to talk...its not food...its my mind that has left me in this obese world...good luck with all the sleeves..but ..have your head a d brain ready too

I'm abit confused you had your sleeve not long ago and are on diet meds. Is this prescribed by your surgeon and doctor ?

You don't need to go back to liquids. That's drastic and many trigger you to eat other things. Stalls are normal also even when on track

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
