Facebook group challenge is actually working...

Recommended Posts

Im an admin on a wls support group on Facebook (Recipe For A New Life). We've been doing weightloss challenges for about 5 months now and I'm the one who always buys the prizes (a nice candle). Ive never won. This challenge is different. My husband is now part of it as well as 2 cousins. Now I'm motivated to FINALLY get to goal after 8 yrs of wls (lapband in 2009 and sleeve revision in 2013). I bounced between 160 and 170 for 4 yrs. Yesterday I weighed in at 149! Frist time I've been under 150 since I got married 6 yr ago (weighed 144. Lowest I ever got). My original goal was 140. Now that Im closer, I'm thinking 130-135? I', 5'5" and I've surpassed my Drs goal (155). I'm in first place! My husband is in 2nd! We go by %'s so it's fair for people of all weights.

I've been working really hard this past 3 weeks (challenges are 4 weeks). Did u know that black pepper has .007 carbs per serving? My husband is the carb Nazi and tells me the amount of everything I put in my mouth. And no, I don't listen to him when I put pepper on my eggs! I'm FINALLY doing it! Yippee!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
