Hello Everyone!!

I am very excited to say that I went to my firts post op appt. yesterday and I have lost 18 pounds!! :whoo:16 of them since surgery on the 4th!! YAY!! I guess all the walking at the park helped a lot!! I just hope it stays off now that I have been advanced to mushies. I do not think it should be a problem though because I made some egg salad and tuna salad, and I can only eat about 2 tbsp or so every 2-3 hours. I actually feel full!! What a weird feeling to actually feel satisfied with such a small amount of food. I was worried I would be able to eat a lot of mushie food becasue I can eat about 3/4 to a cup of Soup but my doctor told me I would be suprised how the change in consistency would allow me to feel the pouch more now. Boy, was he right.... I hope everyone is progressing well and tolerating their diets. I just have to say I am so glad the liquid phase is gone for now....I have my first fill appointment on the 15th of November.

Congrats to you !! I started at about the same weight as you. Lost about 9 during the pre-op diet, so just got banded on Tues Oct 16th. Your progress is an inspiration for me! Let me ask you and anyone else a question. For the first few days or more after surgery did you have a lot of 'bubbles'? Like when I take sips of my Protein Drink, about 5 min later it sort of bubbles up. ..like a burp. I mean nothing is actually coming back up, or getting stuck, but it's sort of like a slow drain. I'm hoping this is temporary because its sort of annoying, but maybe its just something I have to get used to?

Again .. Congrats!!

I have this feeling like theres a rock right under my breastbone. Like things are moving REAL slow. It makes me not want to put anything in there. For the first day or two, I don't think it was so apparent but maybe that was because I was in so much darned PAIN! I'm taking in my shakes slowly and am grateful for the fact that I can feel the change in my stomach. I will use it to my advantage and take as little as possible to satisfy my daily quotient.

Speaking of daily quotient...gawd, my husband has become a drill sargeant! *man voice* "You really need to get with the program...you aren't getting nearly enough Protein. He cracks me up! I tell him 'I'm only on day 2, you goofball!' ... *man-voice* 'oh yea...well, ok.' lmao

He is so sweet and took the entire week off for me. I think I should send him back to work...like yesterday hehehee.

I'm feeling a bit better today (day 3). Each day seems to be improving exponentially.

I also feel little bubbles if I drink too much. I think I am going to burp really big, and then just a little bit of air trickles out. Now that I am on mushy foods it is not as bad. I get full really quick and it lasts a few hours. I also am having trouble getting all my Protein in. My doc wants us to shoot for 80-100 grams a day. I think I average 70-80.

Yeah - that's sort of the same feeling I have. Slow moving stuff. My only worry is that it takes so long to get that stuff in and I have to get that 60 grams of Protein. ... so much to remember. I'm glad I'm home until Monday. Maybe I'll get into some kind of routine with this. I don't want to go back to work and blow my whole eating/drinking schedule. I try to take all the meds/etc first thing in the morning so I only have to concentrate on fluids and protein for now. Any other suggestions?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
