I'm curious when most people felt well enough to go to a show? I'm trying to plan for my surgery in late nov and between holidays and kids' events I'm really struggling. Do you think I will be able to sit through my daughter's ballet recital 7 days out? Maybe 10 days out? Will o be miserable on xmas if it's 10days post op. I do have young children so want to enjoy it with them. TIA

Sitting in a show? I think so. I actually did about 8 days post-op. Holidays would be hard because of all the food, but if go in knowing that and don't get upset about not eating, you should be fine. You can't lift anything over a gallon of milk weight for 4-6 weeks.

You can do most things that you want. All you need to do is plan it out. When I go out I bring my soft sided ice cooler with two 32 oz Water bottles, 2 containers of muscle milk Protein Shakes, two Snacks such as string cheese, a portion of baked chicken breast or other high Protein meal and anything else that I feel that I will need to get through the time I'm away from home. You will be drinking a lot of water so, make sure you bring enough with you.

Go, enjoy your kids and their holiday activities.

Towards the end of the first week I was actually going out a Lot due to feeling trapped at home. You should have no issues sitting as long as you move at intermission. I found I moved like a older person

Yes sitting. That's good to hear. food will be hard but there will never be a good time to stay away from food... Thanksgiving will have to be my last holiday meal pre op. Thanks!!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
