I had my Sleeve this morning at approximately 9:00am. My surgeon was Dr. Stegemann who is fantastic! Actually the other surgeon in their practice Dr. Gopal assisted so I was in very capable hands. I had to have an arterial line placed for monitoring BP, HR, O2 because I have an AICD (defibrillator & pacemaker) for a rare congenital heart defect called ARVD. And still everything went great. He told my son after surgery all surgeries should go that smoothly 🙂.
I had some sharp, burning pain in recovery when I first woke up that was quickly relieved with Dilaudid. Then when they moved me to a room they switched me to morphine which I had a total of 3 times, the last time less than prescribed and that was around 4:00 this afternoon. It is currently 9:48! I also have Norco if necessary but right now my only pain is the left over gas from the procedure. I have no bowel sounds yet so as long as I feel the way I do now I will not be asking for anymore narcotics because they will work against me and I'd rather have a little pain and have bowel sounds and know they're working again. I've been nervous for days ahead of time, (nurses are worriers because we know all about the complications lol) and because of my heart. But that is why I had the surgery, I need to take any added strain off my heart that I can. I had some nausea a few times earlier in the day but it was always brief, maybe a minute or 2 at the most, and I haven't had that in several hours as well, and they did give me Zofran twice but, I'm going to try not to take it again because all nausea meds can potentially cause a serious arrythmia. I've been taking tiny sips with a spoon of Water, ice chips, and even smaller bites of Jello.< br> I walked the hall, I'm using my spirometer, taking deep breaths and coughing, I want this to be as successful as it can be. I'm sorry it's long-winded, but I wanted to give as much detailed info as possible for those who are getting close to their surgery date.
I will check in tomorrow evening to let you know how day 2 went and if I went home or stayed another night. Love & Light to you all.

Well I didn't get to go home like I'd hoped. I wasn't able to get in enough fluids on my own so they are keeping me one more night to make sure I get in enough fluids and get an idea of how much I need to get in a day. It hasn't been easy because I cramp with very little Fluid. Otherwise everything else is going good. Been up walking around on and off all day and sitting up in a chair. Just have to work on those fluids!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
