Switch insurance mid-process

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have United Health Insurance (2017) but come 2018 I believe I will have BCBS of California. I'm wondering how this will affect my approval process and if my monthly visit will have been for nothing [emoji17]. I started in July and United requires a 6 month diet so my 6 months is December. If I get approved for

surgery quickly after my 6th visit, there's a SMALL chance I can do the surgery this year, which is best for deductible reasons but also highly unlikely I'll for it all in December. So most likely my surgery will be in January. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Call bcbs explain the situation and see if they will honor everything you had done thus far so that you stay on course

I have BCBS-OHIO and I had to do a 6 months weight management program with my PCP. So I think as far as you having the 6 months already done it shouldn't be a problem with BCBS accepting it. Unless yours requires a 9 months but I highly doubt it.

I'm in the same position, however after talking to the insurance specialist at the Bariatric center they told me that the 6 months requirement are very similar and will be valid for the next carrier. You'd most likely pick up where you left off. I'm going from bsbc to blue shield, and my 6th visit will be in beginning of December.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
