How much Water were you able to get down when you first got home from the hospital? Got home today...worried about getting enough, now that I don't have an iv...I can't imagine I can get the 64 oz I was doing before surgery, not yet...wondering what others did.

For the first month post-op I was probably consuming 16 to 24 ounces of Water a day. I'm 2+ years out and still have never hit my goal of 64 ounces of water.

In the beginning it was because drinking and sipping were uncomfortable for me. Now it's because I dislike water. Your mileage may vary.

Right after surgery, your body is in a major heal mode, so many individuals find it difficult to meet the daily Fluid requirement. But just keep trying each day and in a couple weeks you should be there.

I do understand that I'm not going to be able to eat or drink what I supposed to do yet. I was just wondering on average how much people actually consumed...to know if I'm doing okay.

For 1 1/2 weeks post up I drank 32 oz a day which was suggested by dr. After that I could drink more and now at almost 4 weeks I can drink a 12 oz bottle water bottle I a few minutes without a problem ( as long as I waited at least 30 min after eating puréed. I'm almost at 50-60 oz everyday now and eat 400-550 cal a day on purée. Next week I have dr appt as my diet will advance.

I'm about three weeks post-op and still not meeting the Water goals. I generally get from 32 to 40 ounces a day (although my doctor doesn't count Protein Shakes into that total). Thank goodness for Protein water--double duty, getting both protein and water. But it's a struggle on the water front every single day.

I'm only a week and a half out and have met my 64oz goal since day after home from hospital. But I was a big Water drinker prior to surgery, maybe that's why? Not sure if type of surgery matters, I had gastric bypass.

My target was 64oz immediately after surgery. I didn't hit it on day 1, but have ever since day 2. Just keep taking small sips the entire time you are awake. Sometimes it felt like I was forcing myself to drink, but dehydration wasn't something I wanted to risk. Each day it got easier.

I used a measured Water bottle so I knew how much I had left.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
