No, I think it's truly legit! I've heard it can last up to 2-3 weeks, but hopefully it won't for you. Make sure you really stay hydrated and get your Vitamins in with what Protein you can get down. My nut said it's really gonna help shake things up.

21lbs is fantastic! Is that including pre-op diet too? Or purely post surgery day wt to now?

Preop I was 242

day of surg 227

current is 221

..so most is the preop Fluid diet.

Your doing great! I’m going to start tuna soon too-that will help and I like the nasal B12 idea for energy! Can’t wait to watch your progress too! I’m 5’8”, was 242 & down to 221 now at 3 wks post op. scale hasn’t seemed to wanna move much this week.

Your doing great down to 221! I went shopping hoping to get smaller clothes but still in the same size. It's weird.

Post surg Fluid retention...? This is my first surgery ever, so I’m a newbie at it. I’ve been wondering why im not losing more post surg weight!!? I’ve only lost 6 lbs (I’m 3wks post op as of today).

Also, Im wondering if we can still lose if we eat reg cheese post op..? It’s such a tiny amount that I wonder why it would matter..? I use part skim cheese where I can but otherwise regular. I’m not sure about fat free or low fat stuff with the additives...? Hmm.

Re: pre-op fluid wt loss I have a priceless tip: I went a whole week on broths & shakes & actually gained 3 lbs... I was perplexed & frustrated to say the least, but finally figured out the issue to wt loss. I COMPLETELY STOPPED store bought broths & MADE MY OWN WITH NO SALT!!! I swear it was about the only thing I ate (with just 2 shakes per day) so I was gorging in it, anyway after only about 2 days on no sodium broth, I had lost 7 lbs! So it was Water retention! I ended up losing 15 total on that boring bland tasteless homemade broth, but it was sooooo worth it!!!!!

I made my broth with as much chicken as I could fit in the pot, water, Miss Dash for seasoning (& lots of it!), pepper, I put carrots in along with a huge onion, and a huge bunch of fresh cilantro!!

Thank you, most of it was from the Fluid diet wt loss occurring preop though. I lost 15 preop from no sodium broth (yuckkk!) but it sure worked, and only 6 post op. But 21 lbs total so I’ll take it! :)

I’m too scared that I’ll be disappointed to try to shop, so I’ll wait in that, but it’ll be soon that you’ll see the sizes move!

I use regular for some cheeses and low fat (2%) for others lol. I'm pretty sure you will lose regardless of your cheese preference. :) ((hugs)) Me=Surgery Vet. *sigh* It's a dubious honor. And yeah, the store broth messes me up! But so do straight Protein Drinks. I swear I held on to Fluid like nobody's beeswax when I was drinking only them as an early test when I first started my wl diet for surgery.

Such good info about your pre-op diet though! Congrats on your loss!! Love the idea of the fresh cilantro. I'm a tortilla Soup ho--cuz of the brothy cilantro flavor. I like mine really thin more like caldo!

Not sure if your asking specifically me that question, but yes I am post op, 5 days. Feeling weak but still manageable. I am running a low grade fever. Going to see my GP tomorrow. Otherwise I work each day getting all my fluids. TMI: exploding diarrhea on 4 day post op. It was 6 day before having an actual BM. Felt better afterwards. Walking has been a challenge, it's very cold out, and with my fever, I just shiver.

Yes was asking you! And wow, sorry to hear about the fever and the chills, yes that would make it difficult to walk outside in the cold! Glad you are going to see your GP, try to get as much rest as you can. Hope you are feeling better quickly!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
