banded 10-15

Recommended Posts

Hey all...had surgery this morning!

Everything went well until post op. Radiology was "backed up" for an hour after my surgery and the nurses couldn't give me more pain/nausea meds until after my barium swallow test. That sucked being on the wrong side of the pain curve! Since then I am feeling much better with my own pain med and tylenol alternating. Hot tea has been wonderful and has helped the gas pains immensely. Just tender in the abdomen, real pain in the chest and back.

The best news? my pre-op weight loss shocked me. I lost 42 pounds pre-op (5 weeks worth!)

and so it begins...Thank you all for your support and prayers!

Ben

This is her husband posting for her.....

She went in for her band at 10am and I got the call from the Doc at 11:15. All went well and very fast. Radiology was set for 1, but was an hour late, and lasted another hour. We rolled out about 3:20.

She's in some pain, but is taking tylenol/codeine and is hoping to sleep soon.

AWESOME ! Sorry about the pain, but glad you got through it ok. I'm going in tomorrow morning but won't be able to report here until Wed sometime since I have to spend the night in the hosp.

Thanks to all who are praying for me and thinking about me. It's great to have supporters like you guys. (I'm not reading ANY banding horror stories tonight .. I might crawl under my bed and not show up for the surgery if I read one more) :faint:

Until Wed...

Judy

Melissa - you are a sweetie! Your thoughtful message just made me feel so good this morning as I try to get back to sleep for just a few more hours before my ride arrives to head for Columbus Ohio. My older brother and his wife will be taking me down there so I'm grateful for that. I didn't tell my kids (adults) about my plans until I had arranged for a ride. My daughter is 7 months pregnant and has two little children so I didn't want her to worry about getting me there, and my son is a middle school principal and I hated for him to try to get off work.

Anyway - in 12 hours - I'll be out of surgery, and on the road to recovery. Bless you Melissa - we'll have to keep in touch kiddo!

I agree!! We will have to keep in touch. I feel so much better that there are people out there going through this all and willing to share the experience. We all gain so much from the opportunity to share and ask and even whine once in a while...LOL. How long is the ride? I hope not long!! You will do fine! I will do fine and we will meet back here on the BAND side and then share with everyone else our success!:clap2:

Melissa - the ride is only about an hour and my brother is a non -stop chit chatter and the most positive person you'd ever want to meet - so he'll take my mind off the surgery. I suppose its too much to ask him to run through Mc Donalds for an egg mcmuffin on the way down? (ha ha ha)

Hey - the great thing about the band is that someday I will be able to have an egg mcmuffin (or half of one) again!!

good night for now...

Judy,

That is great! My hubby is positive too and very sensitive to my needs right now!! He would probably not laugh though if I asked for and egg mcmuffin!! He would just sternly tell me that I have come too far for an egg mcmuffin to ruin this! LOL By the way, I would much rather have the sausage mcgriddle!! I just have to keep telling myself that in a few weeks for thanksgiving I will have turkey and pie as usual, just not so much!! I think it is about time for me to go to bed. I really am tired. I dont want to just lay there though! Hope you can catch some sleep too and dont work yourself up too much on the ride out. Just think, one day we will have after pictures...LOL

Congratulations! I was banded also n the 15th. That day was bad with tons of nausea from anesthesia and gas but today (16th) I'm feeling like a million bucks! Congrats to everyone else recently banded and good luck!

I was also banded on the 15th. So glad it is over and now it's time to get on with my life!! I still have a little shoulder pain and some gas, but over all am feeling much better today. Would love to hear from others who were banded on the 15th.

Still gassy and sore from gas. I feel like I have the burp from hell that just doesn't burp. :) I'm taking liquid tylenol during the day now. At night I still use the hydrocodone though since I sleep on my side and that makes me pretty sure. I just flat out can't fall asleep on my back.

Hey all, just an update. I am still having major intestinal gas pain...not gas from the surgery. I am having BMs and venting some gas but it is pretty brutal at times. The surgical site pain is fine--I just want to fart!

I feel your pain! Quite literally! Luckily this evening gas has started escaping from various places. I would usually not be happy about this but I'm loving it! It's making me feel a lot better...

Me too!!!! farting has become one of my most treasured moments! :( I haven't had to burp at all. I think that would really hurt!!! Still feel like I have been punched in the stomach, but getting so much better every day!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
