How many fills does it take to get full?

Recommended Posts

Kacee can you describe what it feels like for you, how do you know you are at perfect restriction? I know it is different for everyone, but I am just trying to get a feel for what to expect. I have had 1 fill so far, I have some restriction, not much but enough that I wouldn't try to eat for example a tuna fish sandwich instead of just the tuna fish. I go for my second fill on Friday and am just wondering what to expect with the next fills.

I had my first fill 5 days ago and still feel restriction. For my restriction seems to mean that I stay full longer. Pre-fill I would eat about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of food at a time and be hungry in 2 hours then drink lots of fluids to tame my hunger. Post-fill I'm really struggling to get in calories because I am just not hungry. So I'm sipping on a protien shakes all day and eating one meal. I don't feel as restricted as I did the first week post-op, but I've heard that I'll never feel that restricted again (thank god- as it was hard to even sip water). My band is 25% full, 1cc in a 4cc band.

Well this is my second fill and I have gained 6lbs , so I would be satisfied with one lbs a week. The dr. said to be pateint. But it gets hard at times.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
