Chest Pain After Eating

Recommended Posts

When I eat too quickly, sometimes I can feel the food (or air?) sitting on my chest like I tried to swallow a brick. Does anyone else experience this?

I am not sure why it happens. Seems it would be lower down. Just resting or walking relieves it. I feel it in the middle of my chest, even 4 years post sleeve.

It happens because you've eaten to much. Or to fast and you really should stop before that point. How much are u eating and how far out.I noticed this maybe upto week 5 then I figured I need to eat 2 ounces then wait.then start again

I'm not really sure what is considered a "large" amount. I guess that is subjective. It's less than what I used to eat but it is definitely more than 2 oz. I will start with smaller portions and see if that helps. I know for sure that I am eating too fast. I always have. I will make a focused effort to slow down more. That pain on my chest is awful. It feels like it is choking me to death and it lasts for several minutes before it passes. I don't want keep experiencing that. It is miserable

I just make a regular-sized plate with small portions [emoji17]

I too experienced the pain. It lasted a week. Now I get smaller versions of it if I eat too much. I really listen to my sleeve now. I thought if it was going to continue like that then this was the biggest mistake I could make. So glad it stopped!

That happens when I eat to fast or if I try to finish that last bite. I only ever serve myself 4 oz but sometimes even 4oz can be too much. You will figure it out soon enough.

I get shoulder pain- that's even weirder! Doc says it's referred pain due to gas.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
