9 days postop...

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I was sleeved on 8/10 and seem to be healing pretty well. But the last few days I've just been feeling SO down in the dumps and I'm not sure why. Yesterday was the worst. I felt so listless and tired that it seemed like it took every last ounce of energy I had just to breathe. Today is better than yesterday energy-wise (I can at least get off the couch) but I'm still nowhere close to where I think I should be. Is this common?

The major hormone fluctuation can bring on feelings of depression. Very common.

Sorry I can't add more advice. I'm bi-polar so I already take a mood stabilizer that is helping me avoid this issue.

Just a thought- Exercise helps with the happy endorphins.

Good luck.

Very common! Lack of energy is the major complaint after surgery while healing. It took me 3 weeks at least to be able to even walk around the block without wanting to sit down and rest. Keep your Water and Protein up as best you can- this is always a struggle for me. It also takes months for the anesthesia to get totally out of your system. My surgeon said the healing process goes on for at least 6 months. So rest and take care of yourself.

The Protein is my major struggle right now as the Water is getting easier and easier, but I'm thinking the lack of protein plays a good part in why I'm feeling so tired. I am so sick of protein shakes! I appreciate the input - I know it will get better, just have to survive until then haha

My nephew is a surgeon and told me it's so normal. Not only cuz of anesthesia, but also cuz of pain pills, the hormones from weight loss, AND he told me that just the process of a surgeon getting in and touching your guts/bowels can cause hormonal fluctuations that can cause the blues. His advice was/is: drink LOTS of fluids (water), move move (walk), and watch funny shows on tv, and rest whenever possible.

Omg I'm so sick of Protein Shakes too. I need to get them down tho. It's 3pm where I am and haven't had one yet and I have to. Ugh.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
