When is your 1st fill?

Recommended Posts

I went to my first post op doctor's appoinment today. He scheduled my first fill for November 26. They were going to schedule it just before Thanksgiving, but decided it wouldn't be good with the holiday just around the corner. They were thinking that if there was any problem with the fill, it would be too hectic a time. I was thinking I needed the fill (fix) to keep me "good" through the holiday. Oh well. He also yanked off the last two sterile strips. I decided he could, but I wasn't. If he caused it to open, he could repair. On the 26th he said I would also meet with a dietician.

I go November 6th for my first fill. I wish I could go now. I'm hungry all the time. I notice that I can't eat as much as I used to in 1 sitting, but my hunger is definitely coming back.

I've been introducing solids into my diet, but for the most part I'm still on mushies. I've had chicken breast - hurt going down, and I've had sausage - the thin kind cooked crispy, it went down just fine. I had baby carrots and celery last night dipped in ranch dip, went down just fine.

BANDED 10/16 and first fill is scheduled on 11/19 but my doc said I could reschedule to the week of the 12th through the 16th so I have time to adjust b4 the holiday...sounds good to me...LOL I am already hungry. I will call Monday and reschedule to that week!

I was banded October 15th and my first fill is November 21 -- the day before Thanksgiving. Yikes! I can't say I'm really hungry. In fact, I've pretty much just been drinking my Protein Shakes -- and LOTS of Water. My dr. requires a 2-week liquid diet after surgery, so next week I'll try mushies.

Yeah, I had a chicken breast and it was not pretty. I can eat most other solids but the no no's (dry meat and pasta) I have to be very careful with even without fill. And I still sometimes eat too fast and that hurts.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
