Hey Guys ! I had my surgery 8/7 and I'm two days post up, I got to be honest and say this gas I had trapped in my chest OH MY GOD! I've never cried so much ever from the pain, even taking a sip of Water I'm in intense pain. I've walked three times since yesterday, the nurses tell me they can't give me Gas medicine and I just have to push the gas out. WTFFFF I don't know what to do Guys : (

You are so right. That was the worst pain and didn't mentally prepare myself for that level of pain. I am 11 days post op. Mine got better on day 2-3. There is no shortcut except walking. Sounds unhelpful when you are in that much pain but it will go away. I promise you. That is why I feel mad when I hear someone say bariatric surgery is " the easy way out." It is not easy at all!

Yes the gas pain is no joke. You can try the gas x strips. But walking is the best way to get it to move. Try walking each hour. Even a short distance will provide some release hope you feel better soon.

I definitely agree with the both of you girls thanks for understanding and sorry for having to go through that as well. I'm just nervous b/c I don't really feel any restriction or fullness I just really want to be successful in my journey

I had Gastric Sleeve on 7/27 and experienced the same gas pain. As seen in other parts of this thread, I affirm that the only way to fix it is through walking. No shortcuts to feeling better.

24 hours post op. Smallest sip of Water or ice, instant gas. I was up walking around as soon as I got to my room. Biggest issue was trying to pee after anesthesia, finally worked out last night.

Just had a couple small spoons of Jello. Got a little nausea so backed off. So far , pretty much what I expected.. I hate to say it but not as much pain as I thought. Hang in there and move around.

You know, to be honest, I didn't have the gas issue after the surgery other than an occasional pain or two. Not too long ago, I was in so much pain and I finally decided to chew a Gas-X and lay on my side. WHAT?! GIRL, I feel your pain. It will get better, we promise!

I'm day 2 too and my experience sounds similar. Gas when I try to drink water. But it does seem to be getting better--less gas.the warm Soup actually feels good in my tummy.

For a lot of people, warm works better. Also it gets rid of the morning foamies.

You poor thing!! That pain was awful!! Just keep walking. I couldn't get it out either--tried making myself burp, but had little success.
It gets better every day, hang in there!

Ladycharizar, are you feeling better? Are you able to liquids down? I'm supposed to go home tomorrow but I have not been drinking as much as they would like because it makes me uncomfortable. Are you home yet?

Jessica I'm having the same issue and walking helps I walk as soon as I drink something cause it's painful going down sitting there. They try to get me to drink a lot of broth but I honestly like the pop sickles better I found the sugar lets me fart. Better but we're in this together

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
