Pre-op diet

Recommended Posts

Heya,

im having my band fitted on Friday next week. I am relatively small compared to most people who have this surgery.

My story: I weighed 300lb around 2 years ago. I lost 85lb in 6 months and got down to a much healthier weight. I maintained that weight for a year and decided to have an abdominoplasty o take care of all the excess skin and left over stubborn fat. As you can imagine I lost weight very fast and it the shock of going from like 3000 calorie+ days down to at maximum 1500 calorie days with copious amounts intense exercise, it made me feel very depressed and physically sick. It also ruined my metabolism and I pretty much have eat 1500 calories a day Now in order to maintain weight. For the next 6 months I maintained weight fine as before. I then found a new girlfriend and got pretty comfortable. I found myself no longer caring as much about what I was eating. THe pounds slowly crept on and I'd put on about 15 pounds in the space of a few months. My weight then stayed around that for a little while and I was with her. We then split up a few months later and I started eating more again. I then put on another 15lb in a short space of time. I then thought about my options. I didn't want to exercise and starve myself again in order to lose weight as I want it gone fast (I am an all or nothing kind of guy). So i looked at a gastric band as an option. My mother has had great results. I get a lot of my genes from her side of the family (all been quite large and struggled with their weight). Looking at my family history I don't want have to battle all my life. My mother has lost over 70lb in a year with the band.

So i have my band op next Friday. Upon consultation, as im relatively small compared to most people who have this surgery, I asked about the pre op diet and the dr said because of mentioned above, I would probably be okay to not be so strict, but just don't be stupid with my diet. My question is, would I be more safe just to do the diet anyway?

forgot to mention I'm a guy and am 5 foot 10 in height. I think my target weight should be about 13 stone so 182lb.

Thanks.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
