No, I was as well. lol. This is under the forum for "pre op gastric bypass" so, I'm with you on the confusion. I don't mind having both either, but I get what you mean cause there are two separate forums. lol.

Hi September Bypass Buddies,

I would like to know how many of you are doing the Sleeve versus the Bypass? I am a bypass on 9/11.

Cheers,

I'm having bypass, with a hiatal hernia fix thrown in, and on the 19th, not the 18th as I said earlier. I'm simply horrible at trying to keep dates straight.

A couple of you posted book titles. I've downloaded bunches of them during the last 2 years, and some I loved, some I hated. The Big Book on the Gastric Sleeve was the first one I read, and I thought it did a good job of answering most of my practical questions, plus gave me a basis for really thinking through my decisions. Never Binge Again was interesting and made some very good points, but was a little simplistic. I definitely will use some of the techniques in that book, though. The Weight Loss Surgery Coping Companion drove me crazy and I couldn't make myself finish reading it. Plenty of really bad writing, with examples left incomplete, and lots of simplistic thinking (if it was as easy as asking yourself if you're really hungry, none of us would be obese.). The Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients may be my post-surgery bible for a while. Also, Daily Inspirations for Weight Loss Surgery Patients is a nice little daily meditations book, and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery is a great starter cookbook for those of us who are foodies and afraid we'll never eat fine food again.

I don't start my pre-op diet until the 5th, so I'm spending this last week or so eating all the farmer's market produce I can get my hands on. It just occurred to me last night as I was cleaning out one of my kitchen cupboards that I should put family on notice that I'm not going to host Thanksgiving this year. I don't think I'll miss doing so, either. It's time to pass the torch on to my adult children.

I am doing rny gastric bypass. Once looking at all the info, there was no question in my mind. I have had various things confirm, but I was always going for rny.

Went to my pre op nutritional class today! I assumed my program has the two week liquid diet. Totally doesn't. I almost crapped myself when she said I just had to do it the day before. However, just with my medical background I will be doing some variation of the liver shrinking diets despite them telling me I don't have to. I don't wanna bleed out or get a knick! That wouldn't be fun. On top of that, due to me thinking that I had to do the 2 week pre op liquid diet....I already had my food funerals. Might as well get in the right head space since I thought thats what I had to do anyway.

Oh also, since its official that my date IS set - we went and booked the hotel! Its getting SO close and SO real! Holy moly! The nerves are starting to hit me! Thanks for listening to me ramble! lol.

Month and day buddies. I think there are 2 or 3 of us on the board going in on the 12th. Not long now.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
