How long did it take for you to get your dates?

Recommended Posts

My program takes about a month to approve insurance and schedule a date. I was at my last weigh in on 7/18 and I called my insurance on 8/3 and I've been approved for surgery... still haven't heard from my program to schedule the surgery... so still waiting

One practice here schedules everything on your first visit. You walk out with all nutrition, egd, psych, and surgery right after your consult.

So far I've done the nutritionist, now I'm doing classes, then they are telling me that I haven't been doing the right stuff and they wanna sign me up for another class .. I feel Like I'm being dragged through the mud. Currently I'm waiting for the referral to go trough to I guess go to a consultation with the surgeon. Nothing has been mentioned about the pysch evaluation or scans. I've done a seminar and hopefully a group meeting on Wednesday. But I just need someone to talk to about all this

I'm in the same spot as Keenikwe. I've been approved by insurance, but am waiting for the surgeon's assistant to review my file and set a surgery date. I do have to say that this is one area where it sounds like most of the programs could do a better job--that is communicating expectations and timelines. The number of people who get halfway through what they believe to be their requirements, only to have those requirements shift and change is just unacceptable (I realize that this one is usually a problem with insurance companies, not usually the programs). And waiting for someone in an office to shift a file from one desk to another without giving a patient any estimate for how long that usually takes is just impolite. My business requires that I plan out 3 months in advance, but right now I'm leaving my team hanging for the next 8 (or maybe 10, or maybe 12-who knows??) weeks because no one is even willing to give me an estimate on whether I should expect surgery in late August, early September, or maybe not until October. Can you tell I'm frustrated?

As you can see, it really just depends on your insurance and your surgeon's office! I was approved by my insurance before my first appointment (the office called to pre-verify) and they gave me a list of everything I needed to do for my insurance and just scheduled my surgery date that day I was there. I was pretty surprised at how quickly they did it!

Yeah. I'm frustrated too. I'm trying to be patient with all of them but damn how many hoops do I need. I just wish they would lay it all out and be clear about it. So I will just keep doing all I can.

I wouldn't hesitate to call the sooner you know, the better. It could be approved already.

I'm going through the same thing. I was approved In June with an anticipated surgery date of June 29th. I had to jump through many hoops. Now that I'm all finished, my advocate tells me August is all booked, it'll be September but does not know what date because she has to wait for September's schedule to come out.

So after insurance approval (was sent very quickly after my 6th monthly weigh in and approved quickly), I was told to wait for the surgeon's scheduler to call me. They called me in around two weeks and offered me a time six weeks later, I asked if that was the closest and they said no... I got in for four weeks after. So around six weeks after approval.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
