It's a f**king freak show that people watch and gawk at. I'm surprised you'd want these producers anywhere near this sight.

That's just my opinion.

That's why the $30,000 surgery is free. Honestly it was after watching this show that I decided to get surgery so I don't consider it a freak show.

Melissa's story on my 600lb life is the reason I got surgery as well. My HW was only 290, but I could see myself in her story and never wanted to get there. It shows the real struggle, including the addiction and failure of the surgery. Sometimes I get SO angry at the people on the show until I put myself in their shoes and realize how hard it is to make the best choices (even after surgery.) whether you're 200lbs or 600, it's still a rotten, horrible feeling to be overweight and have a food addiction. Props to them for being real and brave enough to go on TV.

I don't think its a freak show per se. It shines a light on someones experience and unfortunately its oftentimes painful and unpleasant. You dont get to 250, 300, 400 or 500 lbs because you like tuna and cupcakes. Something horrible happened or is going on

I personally think it is taking advantage of someone who is in a desperate situation. It is an opportunity to show the voyeurs the warts and all of being fat, instead of exploring it as an illness. Why is it necessary to show them naked in the shower or someone else having to wipe their bums.

In my opinion this is purely for the entertainment of people who do not understand the illness and tragedy behind super obesity.

For people like us who have weight problems we can see the struggle and pain and it can be motivating. We are but a small portion of the watching audience and the rest is humiliating and dehumanizing.

Inside every overweight person is someone with feelings and problems and hopes and dreams. Surely it would be better to explore the illness from all sides rather than focus on the surgery and the way they look.

As the message says this is a CASTING call, to me, that says it all.

Just my thoughts on this.

I'm not a fan of this show, I usually find myself getting very upset as I see that person take advantage of their health and life. Sure, most have severe issues and some are just plain lazy and could not give two craps about themselves. Now, every now and then, you do have some that are raised to be unhealthy. From day one, their parents fed them and lacked loving and building solid adults and for them, I do enjoy watching their reach for success.

THIS is what I mean, albeit said more elegantly than I.

I can't recall one episode where I thought "Damn they're just lazy..." From what I can remember just about all of them have some kind of deep issues going on and have turned to food instead of dealing with their problems and/or emotions... just like the rest of us. Whether or not a person decides they are tired of hurting themselves and want to finally face their fears and deal with the issues they have varies. Some chose to break free of the pain while others dig their heels in, but obviously its not well s/he's just lazy- I mean thats a severely oversimiplified and insensitive statement. That is the attitude people who have never had a weight problem have (sometimes). Just back away from the table... Just put the fork down...If it were that easy none of us would need this surgery that cuts out/removes atleast 80% of the stomach as if the stomach is the problem. (The stomach is just sitting in the body minding its own business doing its job...The problem is the owner of the stomach is constantly stuffing it with food because of what they are dealing with) I hope the show provides counselling/therapy (especially off camera)

Well, I'm sorry my opinion struck a chord. Thankfully, not all opinions are there to be made into a truth. Have a beautiful day :)

It did not strike a chord with me...I think its unfortunate that overweight people attack each other when we all obviously have similar issues. Is there really that much of a difference between someone who is 400 lb vs 425 lb or 290 lb vs 322 lbs? We got issues with food...

Oh, I guess I missed something. My "opinion" attacked no one, or maybe for the overly-sensitive it did. Heck, there were points of my life where I was very lazy, therefore, the weight piled on. Apart of the story: At one point, we are irresponsible and create some of the issues that we faced and what some still face. :) Smile, you are loved.

You are right...your OPINION... If you can admit YOU were lazy thats great but you can only speak for you

Mkay :)

This could go on all day and I honestly, don't want to invest the time into something that is simply opinion based. Congrats on your weight loss and in my opinion, you look great. lol :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
