Eating more at night

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if this is common for everyone.

I was banded in May and currectly have 2cc's in my band (9.75 band)

It seems like at night I can eat so much more.

The morning time, I can only drink a Protein shake.

At lunch I can eat a small meal.

But at dinner it seems like I can eat more...

As the day goes on, my appitite get bigger - is this normal?

I am definitely more constricted in the AM. I just got my first fill yesterday, but every PB I've had (or almost had) has been at Breakfast or lunch. In the evenings I could eat pretty much anything as long as I chewed it halfway seriously.

Yep, same here. I haven't PBed yet, but I am extremely tight in the morning. Can't eat anything until I have something hot to open me up.

It's common to be more restricted in the morning vs. the evening. DrC even fills some people so they can't do anything but liquids throughout the day and solids in the evening. It just goes to show how common that issue is.

I tighten up at night. I cannot eat a lot in the morning but I can eat a healthy breakfast.

At night I"m tight and if I've eaten late afternoon, there's no way dinner's happening. And I have never ever had an after dinner snacking habit, never been a night time eater so I've not had to fight that.

I'm wide open from about 11 am to about 5.30 pm. I can even still eat a sandwich for lunch!

I am very tight in the morning and can only drink Water or tea for about 5 hours. Around 10am I have a yogurt and then a small but normal lunch about 1-2pm and a snack (cheese and crackers usually) about 4. I have a small and light dinner, usually Soup, around 7 because by then I am tight again. Lunch and afternoon snack is really the only time that I can eat normal food that has to be chewed. At breakfast, I can't even get down a Protein Shake or smoothie so I just stopped trying.

Seems I'm About The Same All Day, As Far As Constriction Goes. But Seems I'm Always More Hungry In The Evenings. I Think It's Because I Let Myself Get To Much Time Between lunch And dinner. Lunch At 11:30 Then Off Work, Drive Home , Swim, Maybe Nap. Then It's 7:00 Before I Eat. Bad Thing (or Good Thing) Is Just Because Your Really Hungry ,you Can Still Only Eat About 4 Oz. I Need To Have Maybe A Protein Shake Between Work And Swimming ,my Help. But I Have Heard Many Folks Eat Easier Later In The Day.

What if you start binging on veggies? I mean seriously, things like well cooked zucchini and broccoli are foods that will fill you up quickly, you have to chew forever, and you simply won't have room for anything else.

That's what I've done in the past. Still do, actually. The calories are low, Fiber is great, they are filling and take a long time to go through. Eat as much as you want.

I'd go to bed at that time of night!

But yes, on occasion when I've really felt like pigging out on something that happens to be in the house, I've eaten an apple. Those are so hard to eat and SO filling for me and if the craving remains, then a tiny bit of whatever it is - just enough to fill in the chinks, will do it then.

Those diet tricks actually WORK when you're banded. Eat a huge plate of steamed veges and it will at least slow you down so you do a lot less damage.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
