When was the last time you lost 16 pounds in a month? That's great!

My surgeon says never compare yourself to others. Just work YOUR tool. Keep your eyes on your own work!

I've lost 20 pounds in one month by dieting and exercising. I thought my first month after surgery would of been more than that!!

Plus I'm so sick all the time when I eat next to nothing. My emotional state is so bad. I hate everything right now.

OP, I only lost 12lbs in the 1st month after surgery. I started at 206lbs on surgery day and lost 14lbs during my 2week pre-op diet. I am about 3.5 months post-op and down to 162lbs; that is 44lbs since surgery. I have lost inches. We have less to lose so our body will space it out slowly. Take measurements and pictures! You will see a difference!

I'm sure I will lose more weight. I'm just not in the best emotional state about things sometimes lately. I'm hoping to work through this soon. I was told this was going to be hard but it feels harder at some points of the day than others. I needed to let this out on here because I have not told too many people of my Surgery and don't want to overwhelm everyone with my problem. :) It's great that there is this forum to let it out on. Thank you so much for the reply's

whoa.... at your high weight you were barely two bills and you got gastric bypass? hey, that's cool.

but that's also why you "only" lost 16lbs. that's 8% of your freakin body weight. that'd be like me losing 28lbs my first month!

you're not very big to begin with. if you see people on here talking about 30lbs lost in the first month they are usually male and around 400lbs.

comparitively, you are actually outpacing a 400lb guy who lost 30. hell i wrapped up my first month today and i lost 24. and i was/am ecstatic. and i'm way way bigger than you! do you see what i'm saying here?

focus on your emotional health. the weight loss will come in time. you need to focus on getting your soul right... :787_om_symbol:

The less you weigh, the slower the weight loss. The one downside of being a lightweight :P

Like the person above said, the lighter you are, the slower the weight loss. After all, slow and steady wins the race I hear. [emoji846]

I wouldn't rush it. Just let it do its thing.

Like someone posted, you've lost 8% of your body weight, that's amazing. I'm only 5 weeks post-op and have lost 22.8lbs since surgery. When I compare myself to others I get discouraged but I have to remind myself daily to stop comparing myself!! It's a daily struggle. I didn't take measurements to start but did at 3.5 weeks. Also, for the first month I lived in lularoe skirts and dresses so it was even harder to tell if I'd made any progress. People were telling me not to focus on the scale but to concentrate on how my clothes fit and I didn't want to listen. However...I'm totally convinced now. In the last week I have tried on clothes that haven't fit in 3.5 years or more! So take it from a skeptic, focus on how your clothes fit and if you haven't taken any measurements, do it now :)

Addition - the surgery messes with your hormones and I too have been an emotional wreck some days. It does get easier. Just take it one day at a time!!

Keep using all of us as sounding boards. Emotions can really mess with you. Getting them out here or in writing somewhere else will take the edge off and help you feel more in control.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
