My husband and I are having surgery in Tijuana on August 7th. We're going to be at the Nova Clinic. Our surgeon is Dr. Maytorena.

They will only keep us for two nights, but I'm thinking we might want to get a hotel for two more nights, just to be safe. Any thoughts or hotel recommendations? Thanks!

Wow. That will be here before you know it! Best of luck to both of you! Have you started your preop diets yet?

My husband is accompanying me and is staying at the Grand Hotel (two towers). The hospital/clinic is in the next tower from the hotel so very convenient. Once I'm discharged 2 days later I will spend 2 nights with him before going home. That's what they recommended and I feel comfortable with that.

Looking forward to hearing all about your journey(s)!

August 7th will be here before you know it! How exciting. Keep us posted on how it goes. I will be staying at Hotel Lucerna. The three my hospital recommended to me were Hotel Lucerna, Hotel Pueblo Amigo, and Grand Hotel Tijuana. Let me know if there is anything you didn't pack, that you wish you had. Good Luck!

Will be at hotel Lucerna as well. Surgery fast approaching getting a little nervous. Started the the last 3 days of of my 2 week preop, liquids only. I am actually surprised how not hungry I am considering I have been working hard building a deck and finishing various projects. I made an awesome broth with my fresh garden vegetables , added a little chicken Bone Broth for added Protein and had that for lunch and dinner with a clear Premier Protein drink for Breakfast. It was so nice and effortless that I think I will just repeat again for tomorrow. I am amazed that I have lost 21 lbs in the preop phase.

Well had my sleeve with Dr Kelly on August 2 as planned, I am back home now. Very happy with the experience everything went very well. A little sore with mild nausea but no gas pains for the first post op day but I was feeling up to walking to the shops and Sams' club of all places on day 3. I feel like I am nearly 100% now. Was planning to take a week off from work but honestly I think I will go back in a couple of days. Good luck to everyone with their upcoming surgeries.

I hope that's me after my surgery.

Obviously everyone's mileage will vary somewhat, but I am hopeful everyone will have similar positive experience :) .

Had my VSG revision (from LapBand) scheduled for tomorrow (8/15/17) in Mexico. Got down to do the pre-op testing. All was going well, vitals were all good, I lost the prescribed weight, but then...

Apparently either I missed the question or it wasn't recorded properly in the pre-screen that I have had Hepatitis B in the past. Mind you, my HepB was 30 years ago and was acute (meaning no ongoing symptoms). Also, I had LapBand 8 years ago and there were absolutely no liver issues then and I have numerous liver panels through the years with no ongoing liver function issues.

However, out of an abundance of caution - they want to run a fresh liver function blood test and the results take 10 days to process. Assuming it's good, they will reschedule. This means my surgery is postponed a minimum of two weeks and possibly longer depending on their availability. The real kick in the teeth is I have to stay on the pre-op diet the whole time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
