Hi - I was banded on the same day as you. I've had the same problems with getting enough fluids - although I'm drinking with a teaspoonor sipping slowly because I'm scared I'm going to gulp too much. All the pain I've been having has been gas and I make sure I get up and walk every hour and its been easing and I've used heat pads. I think it will be a slow start but hopefully it will get easier.

I was banded on 10/8 but I have no problem getting Fluid down. But please keep hydrated. I have been eating lots of sugar free popsicles, they have been a god send. My gas pain is going away thank goodness for that.

I was banded yesterday, the 9th, and I pretty much feel like I was run over by a bus, stomped on by a horse and strangeled. I'll try the popsicles! I can drink okay, I just have to remember to do it! The "gas" pains aren't affecting me in the abdomen (which is soft) but I think they're messing with my diaphragm and sending pain signals all over my back, which is killing me. This too shall pass! Go look at the "before and after" pics for inspiration, LOL!

I was banded on the 3rd. and I still have trouble getting in all of my fluids. I just keep juice or Water with me all the time and sip all day. Popsicles do help. I know I'm not getting in enough nutrition, because It will take me all day just to get down 8 oz of broth. I'm just not hungry, and I fill up very fast. I can only manage about 2 oz. at a time. I was supposed to move to mushies today, but I really don't think I can handle them yet.

Try walking - just round the room, warm drinks - sip them if you have a hard time taking them down, heat pads, gas medicine. I found taking a very warm shower helped me too.

Good Luck, sorry your in so much pain :Banane30:

Hi there,

I was banded on Saturday 6th Oct and had really bad pain, couldn't keep anything down - even sips of Water or ice cubes. Even though I'd just been banded (and there's not usually any fill in the band) my surgeon said to come back in and he would take some of the fill out as he in fact had put in a small amount. He took 3ml out through the port and the relief was immediate - I could drink a glass of water immediately and he said I had to drink at least 2 litres in the next 2 hours which I did. I haven't had a single twinge of discomfort since and that happened Wednesday which was day 4 post op.

Phone your surgeon and suggest that your band is too tight - what is happening to you shouldn't be so and it's not healthy to have so little Fluid capacity.

Hope this helps.

Jude

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
