Recommended Posts

I'm on vacation. Left Saturday where I weighed 250 and my scale at home fluctuated by only 4 lbs. I go and work out and get on hotel gym it says 266 how in the world have I've gained 16 pounds. I'm eating no fried foods and getting my Protein in. I did ear subway maybe it's the bread although it was wheat. Can't eat too much it hurts. I'm depressed

It's just a different scale. For accuracy, is the same scale. My home scale is 10 lbs different from my doctor. Don't sweat it.

You know the answer: it's not possible for you to have gained 16 pounds like that. :)

its just a differently calibrated scale, probably along with some travel and time related Water weight. I saw my longest plateau around 7 weeks.

I never trust hotel or gym scales. They are not always accurate. You have to only use your scale. When I traveled, I did not weigh myself. I worked out and ate extremely healthy. When I got home....only lost 1.4lbs lol. It was muscle though. I did a lot of weight lifting and swimming that week.

While on a cruise I did weigh myself. But I didn't care what the starting weight was. I knew it wouldn't match my home scale. I just weighed in every 3 or so days to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Comparing my new weight to the starting weight helped me avoid anxiety that I was totally off plan. Cruise was 16 days plus travel time etc....21 days between Dr office weigh ins and I lost 4lbs while on vacation.

As others said, don't focus on it. It's going to have a different reading than your own. As you're on vacation you also have the possibility of bloating or Water retention from experiencing a different lifestyle while traveling. Personally I'd avoid the scale until a few days after I've returned home.

I'm hoping to lose weight for my next cruise, too!

You can do it. I worked out in gym every other day. I did extra walks on deck.
I stuck to mostly Protein with a little fruit at Breakfast.< br>Lunch was also protein focused with some veggies and or fruit based on what was at buffet. I did go to the grill a couple of times and would do burger with half or no bun.
Dinner I allowed myself to have a piece of bread or breadsticks and a few bites of dessert. Frankly most of the Desserts weren't that good. I got my free scoop of gelato and thankfully I waited toward end of cruise because that was good!
The buffet had so many good protein options...carved meat at every meal...that it really wasn't too hard.
I tried the pizza once and the Pasta bar once. Neither were very good.
We did the fancy pay extra Italian restaurant once and it was awesome. That pasta was worth every carb!
For me the key was my water bottle. I brought a shaker bottle with a good handle on the ship. I would fill it with ice and Water from the buffet stations a couple times a day. I took it everywhere. I also brought a few Protein Bars and prepackaged nuts to take ashore on excursions.
Enjoy your cruise!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
