If you have the AP lapband please respond

Recommended Posts

I thought there was only 1 type of lap band and 2 sizes. What is AP? I have a 6cc band. Today was my 3rd fill. I am only at 2cc. They will not give me more than .5 after the first fill. The doctor doesn't seem to want to fill me. He keeps telling me to exercise and eat healthy. I am!!!! But I am also hungry which is why I got the surgery. Any other people have a hard time with their doctors not wanting to give fills/or not enough?

First, thanks for this thread...timing was perfect because yesterday at 4 weeks post-op, I had my 2nd fill up to 7cc in an AP-s lap-band. It was the worst fill exsperence I had ever had (another story) so I had no idea when I left if I was too tight or not. But last night I could only get down 3 tsp. of Tomato Soup and 2 oz. of Water before I was totally full. So it's going down but very, very slowly. I am going to do as many of you have suggested and take it very easy over the next week. But it's wonderful finally having restriction again...so wonderful.

Wow Judybellyband...how lucky are you to get 7cc's at 4 weeks postop. I also have the aps band and my first fill 2 weeks ago was only 3cc's and my second fill yesterday was just 1cc. My doctor will only put 1 cc in every month after the second fill so to get to restriction for me is going to take awhile. I am better with 4cc's...I so far can eat a smaller plate of food....better anyway. The first fill did nothing. :cry :faint:

So glad to hear you're restricted again and the best of luck! :clap2:

I had my surgery on Dec. 4th with a 12 cc AP band.

First fill 12-26 to 2.5 cc's,

Second fill 12-31 to 4.0 cc's

Third fill 1-3 to 5.2 cc's

I fill up quicker but I can still gulp fluids down. I don't think I am at my sweet spot so I will make another apointment for next week. I was reading some of the responses and it looks like around 6 cc's seems to be good for a lot of people. I hope so. I have lost 25 lbs. since 12-4 but the last two weeks I haven't lost anything.

Keep the faith. Remember to eat to live not live to eat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
