Had my surgery today. Cried my eyes out the whole morning, but all of a sudden I woke up in recovery with LITTLE TO NO PAIN! Amazing. Barry gas pain either. Walking is very difficult, but I managed to go for a little walk today. Going to try each hour or two tomorrow. Never been so happy.

Congratulations!!! I know how you feel. My surgery is tomorrow morning and I feel flooded with so many emotions questioning everything. Glad to hear you feel good. Need to stir up some courage for the morning.

It was funny. I told them I was having an anxiety attack and they said "oh we'll give you a little Valium (and boy did that burn going through my iv in my hand..) and then I was still crying, still anxious. So we went to the OR. I don't even remember them giving me anything else haha

Congratulations!!!

I'm so glad you had very little pain. I was the same. I know walking is challenging, but I promise it's one of the best things you can do.

Just keep swimming, sweetie! You're going to do great!

I remember the anesthesiologist patting my head as he told me to breathe deeply. Then nothing. Haha!

Yes. I had a lot of problems with it but tomorrow my parents will be at the hospital with me to help me get back walking. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
