Numb all around belly button?

Recommended Posts

I asked the surgeon today and he said the feeling may or may not come back. It feels so weird. Anyone experience numbness around their navel after surgery? Did it come back or did you adjust to how it felt?

I had numbness after my sleeve but I attributed most of that to the pain pump they left in place for about a week after surgery because it contained numbing medication. Funny enough though, I just had my gallbladder removed and even though they didn't use a pain pump this time, the numbness around my belly button was worse! It's been about 3 weeks since the gallbladder surgery and the numbness is finally starting to go away. It's a strange sensation.

I haven't had my sleeve yet but I had back and gallbladder surgery 10 and 8 years ago respectively. Back included a 6" incision from belly button to crotch and low back to bum. My gallbladder incisions, which are similar to the sleeve ones, really have not changed sensation except my belly button one a tiny bit. However, my stomach back surgery one is almost completely numb. Sensation hasn't improved and it's so strange. I can't touch it or it creeps me out. Nerves mostly regenerate but not all the time. You just kind of adjust to the sensation.

Thanks for the responses. It is a very strange feeling. Sometimes it tingles and itches so I'm hoping that means the nerves are regenerating. Thanks!

I was sleeved on March 13th and also had my gall bladder removed and a hernia repair at the same time. I have 7 incisions and although the numbness has gotten batter it is still there. You do get used to it but I agree it feels strange

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
