Dimples! Do they change?

Recommended Posts

I have dimples and I love them, they are my favorite feature. I am curious to know if anyone had changes in their cheek dimples after weight loss! Did they get deeper or did they fade a little?? It won't change my mind about surgery lol I'm just asking. TIA :)

Also, sorry if I'm posting in a wrong forum, I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to that.

This is dependent on genetics and the cause of your dimples. If your dimples are purely caused by fat in the face, they will go away. If it is genetic (do either of your parents have dimples? Did you have dimples as a child?), they will become more noticeable as the fat diminishes and the muscles show more (non fat dimples are caused by muscles that are too short). Because dimples usually decrease with age, I would think, if you did not have them as a child, you likely will lose them when you lose weight.

When I was younger, I had very noticeable dimples that actually diminished as I gained more weight in college. Now that I have started to lose again, they are becoming more prominent again.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
