Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I've just discovered Chai Tea!!!!

Recommended Posts

Who knew it was so good? I've seen it in the store and heard of it but I've never been much of a hot tea drinker so I never tried it. However, I got a sample of spiced low carb chai in my bariatriceating.com sampler kit and I just fixed it and it is soooo good! It even smells wonderful too.

Mandi,

If you like the Big Train Low-Carb Chai (I love it, it tastes just like liquid gingerbread), you might also try Bigelow's vanilla Chai. You'll have to add a tablespoon of milk and a packet of Splenda.

Starbuck's Tazo brand is good too, it actually has a hint of black pepper.

Good evening to everyone,

I went to Walmart today and found some Chai tea made by Stash, so as I'm sitting here .......I'm sipping a cup now and I must say it is pretty darn good! I'm still going to try the Big Train brand after I finish this brand. I'm hoping it will be more creamier and richier than the Stash brand...Thanks everyone

I am a die-hard coffee drinker but I recently discovered this tea as well (Panera bread has the best but probably not as low cal) I find that chai tea has enough flavor to help me through the night time craving to just plain eat.

Ok, I'm sitting here enjoying my very first cup of Chai tea.... I got the Tazo brand Chai tea bags, and put one packet of Stevia sweetener (no calories or carbs, and no chemicals) in it, and I have to say it's amazing! Wow, how could I have turned my nose up at it for so long???

Thanks for starting this thread, I'd have never tried it without reading how good it is here, first!

I'm not much of a fancy tea drinker, but I watched Unwrapped and they covered Chai tea today.. and I remembered this thread.

I'm gonna try it!

They mixed theirs (Oregon Chai brand) with 1/2c of milk and made them into lattes.. looked yum.

I ordered the same thing, and just got my kit today! I am looking forward to having my tea tomorrow morning!

They actually recommend mixing it with the IDS Multi-Pro whey vanilla-cinnamon. I've got a bucket of the Protein, and I still have my sample of tea, so I'll give it a try sometime.

Ok, nobody laugh. What is chai? I know I need to find something to drink other than my Bustelo (very strong coffee). You're talking to someone who has never been in a Starbucks. Thanks.

Aw, it was supposed to, I think. Blue packet? That sucks, too, 'cause I thought it was one of the better ones that they sent. A lot of the ones in the sampler aren't high quality Protein (the cans, bullet, and that NASTY Delite crap, for starters), so I've actually still got about half the bag left. Try the Whey Gourmet chocolate Peanut Butter and the Matrix Chocolate samples. Those were the best, IMO.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
