Ok so I am one of those people that make lists and start buying things early .

So I have decided to compile a list and start buying a few things, anyone have anything to add?

- blender that can crush ice

- baby cutlery

- small plates, bowls etc

- small containers

- those medicine cups ( was told they are a God-Send when learning to sip water)

- Vitamins

- Protein Shakes

You have a great list going!! Honestly the baby cutlery and small bowls and plates were an amazing help to me. Also, I loved sipping from a medicine cup those first probably two weeks. It helped me a lot to take those tiny sips.
Only thing I might add to your list is a good food scale. I got a digital one and still use it occasionally at three years post op.

I'm curious why you need to add Gas-X strips? It is an Internet myth that they help with the CO2 gas pain in your abdominal cavity after laparoscopic surgery. That pain is only improved by lots of walking and time.

Oh really? I didn't know... everyone on YouTube swears by them so thought would be good to have

Nope, won't help pain outside the digestive tract. If people think it helped that would be due to the placebo effect.

Gas x strips do nothing for the gas from surgery. Walking is the only way.

I purchased all of the stuff and used like nothing. I never even opened my baby plates, but for some people I could see it being helpful. I also loaded up on Protein Shakes pre surgery and then post op decided I didn't like half of them anymore, so don't get too many because tastes can change.

I recommend the following:

- Abdominal binder. My tummy started deflating as I was healing still and the binder helped a lot with keeping things taut so the hanging skin didn't hurt my incisions.

- Chapstick

- food scale. Everyone who recommends it is spot on!

- Miralax. You are somewhat limited on what you can take post surgery, but Miralax is a safe bet to get things ~moving~

- Sugarfree Popsicles. When you go from normal person to being on a very restricted diet, these feel like a nice treat and give you a little something to crunch

- Fill your prescriptions ahead of time. You don't want to be in line at CVS while feeling like crap and you absolutely want to stay ahead of the pain

I'm going to add that I think gas x was a god send for me, there was an insane amount of pressure in my stomach and nothing brought me relief till I got desperate and picked some up. It was the day after surgery and it was super necessary for me. I will second the sugar free popsicles, they helped make me feel human again lol

Vitamins. I bought all chewable/gummies but honestly I wish I would've just bought regular pills. Less of a hassle and I hate the taste if chewables

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
