Hello everyone, my name is Samantha, I'm 28 years, 5 ft 8 in and I weigh 320 lbs. For as far back as I can remember I have been overweight and I have now come to the point where I have decided that I am going to have weight loss surgery. I have tried many different diet plans in the past to lose weight and then I would end up gaining again. Last year was the best that I have ever done at losing weight, I lost about 60 lbs and I was able to get down to 275 but unfortunately I have gained most of the weight back. And even with my best efforts I am now stuck at 320lbs. I have been doing lots of research on the internet and reading books and I have decided that I want to have the sleeve gastrectomy done. I am still in the early stages of my journey but I would love to get more information from people who have gone through or are going through this journey because I don't know of anyone personally who I can speak to. It would also be great if I can find a buddy to go through this journey with. Thank you very much.

Oh ok, Im going in for a consultation on May 31st but I am hoping that I can have the gastric sleeve done but if the bypass will be better for me I'm ok with that. So being 6 weeks post op how do you feel? How was the whole process for you?

I'm actually 8 weeks today! I feel great! I am down 36 lbs and 54 total since I started the process. I wasn't sure which one I wanted either so after my research I took the advice the nut and surgeon because they have seen thousands and thousands and I figured they knew what was best . The fatigue is real after the surgery for about 6 weeks but gets better.

Hi Sammy! I am 25 and had the sleeve done. I was 235 pds and am only "4'11" this was my last hope for a somewhat healthy life. I am down 43 pds since my surgery 9 weeks ago. I have had heart burn at times but that's when I forgot my ppi. Still struggling with energy but this is such a huge adjustment for the body. I knew this was my last option. I would lose 40 and gain 45 back, yoyoed for years. My weight was also to much due to my height but it was an issue until 7 years ago. I feel like I get a second chance now :) not to mention I can't wait to shop for new clothes😸

I happy for you. I feel like this is my last option also. Ive tried loosing weight naturally for years but I would just end up regaining and I feel like I need to take control of my weight now before its too late. With the heartburn is that something that will go away after some time or will you have to always take the ppi ? And also your lack of energy, how bad is that?

Apparently gerd/reflux is pretty common with sleevers, some will end up doing a revision because the reflux gets so bad for them. I have heard of people who had heartburn and it gets better or goes away totally. I would suggest picking best choice for you. Each procedure has pros and cons

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
