I think almost everyone goes through this, at least once, during their journey. I've heard the first 2-3 days are the worst, and that people feel better after that. It sucks while you're going through it, but it'll get better.

This is so very common. It is not a time to worry or get upset (but please do feel free to complain about it, that is always allowed). You made a good choice, follow through.

I am a couple days past you.. today was better than yesterday which was better than the day before. Thank god for a flexible job and supportive family. Though I did find it really convenient to come online to complain and vent. Right now it does suck hard.

I keep telling myself...this is a choice you made in order to be healthy and live longer. My biggest fear is dying at 60 like my dad did. It is sometimes an obsessive thought I have and that is only 15 years away... I want to be healthy, take less meds, feel comfortable in my skin and happy with my life.

Had mine this past Monday and I haven't once had any regret. I'm glad I did this. The pain will be temporary. We will get through it.

Feeling regret is totally normal. I felt it from around day 4 to day 8. It was bad. But it was all my head and seeing the yummy food my friends kept posting on Facebook or getting an email from pizza Hut. It gets better. I'm almost 3 weeks post off now and I am much happier.

I know exactly how you feel. I too felt that way. But now that I am almost 5 months post op, I am super happy and feel Amazing! Please know your just going through a stage and it will pass. Try to focus on something else. You just made a life change and your journey just began. Enjoy your new life. And keep in mind that it will get easier and you will truly start to feel great.

What helped me was more meditating. If you haven't done this before go to YouTube and search how to mediate.

Good luck.

I hear you! I am on Day 6, and still wake up asking myself what the heck have I done. But little by little, I have seen it get better. From day to day I can take in more Fluid and Protein. And like everyone else has said, this is such a common feeling-- our food lives have been totally turned upside down! I would seriously kill to be able to CHEW something right now.

Hang in there. Vent when you need to. And trust the process-- that's what I am trying to do now. It should only get better from here.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
