Off My C-pap!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I just wanted to spread some encouraging words with those who have sleep apnea and use a c-pap. I am down almost 80 pounds and have not used mine in a week and a half. It has been WONDERFUL!!! One night I did wake up not breathing but I was sleeping on my back. If I sleep on my side or stomach I am fine. What a nice thing to have happen in under six months of banding, not wearing that stupid mask anymore. EVER!!! :whoo:

Go Deanna, Go Deanna!

You're a rock star! And really sharing these NSV's is so important for the ones coming up behind us. It gives so much hope.

I remember getting my CPAP and being depressed for weeks. The improved sleep helped with that though LOL. I packed mine away sooner than I should have, but getting rid of it was really important to me.

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How exciting! Congrats to you :clap2: I get banded on Oct 31, and packing away my little sleep companion, "Darth Vader" for good is a major goal for me. Glad to see it can be done!

That is wonderful!...I was just diagnosed and prepared to start a CPAP machine Friday. My Lap Band surgery is scheduled Oct. 24th and it is good to learn that with surgery there is hope..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
