I am 6 weeks out down 35lbs but feel like I should have lost more! I'm stuck once again !! Since I am feeling better and getting my energy back I am try to excercise more hoping it will help. I'm also having trouble eating frequent meals . I think I am waiting too long to eat ,then letting myself get too hungry then I eat wrong. Self sabotage? I don't know but I want to be successful!! It's scary knowing that I can gain weight back at any time. I forgot to ask my dr how many calories is too much or too little. It's all very frustrating!!

At only 6 weeks out what you eat should still be timed and measured. It is way too early for you to be eating "freestyle". There is so much learning to do still. I plan to time and measure my meals forever as I am one of those "lucky ones" who has no hunger.

In spite of your freestyle ways you have lost 35 pounds in only 6 weeks! That is phenomenal and you should Celebrate. Sounds like you get to be one of those fast losers. I'm down 39 pounds in 3 months...and I celebrate that every, freakin' day!

Congratulations and good luck.

At 6 weeks I should be eating mechanical soft food. 60 to 80 grams of protien. Each meal should be about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food. An example would be like an egg and 2 ounces of oatmeal made with skim milk and fortified with Unflavored Protein Powder at 7am
Then a protien shake made with 8 Oz skim milk around 8:30
8 Oz of Water or crystal light at 10am
Noon 2 or 3 Oz of fat free chicken, 2 tbs of green Beans and a piece of toast
Water at 2 and again at 4 pm
5 pm 2-3 Oz of tuna, 2tbs of cooked carrots, 2-4 tbs of mashed sweet potatoes
7pm crystal light 8oz
9pm 8oz water

It says you can have eggs, low fat cottage cheese, egg whites, low fat canned chicken, tuna in Water, fish, tofu, lean ground meat fruits canned in water or is own juice-no sugar added, soft fresh fruit as tolerated, potatoes without skin, cooked ceria made with skim milk, toasted low fat breads, and I Pasta.

NOT ALLOWED ARE whole milk, solid/crunchy foods, rice, popcorn, high fat meats, high fat starches, fried foods, consecrated sweets, no dried fruit, raw fruit except banana,
No tomatoes, oranges, grafruits, or their juices.

Each meal should take 20 to 30 min to eat.

The way I read that is about 4 small meals a day. With enough water and crystal light to make at least 48 oz. I would shoot for more than that. I also drink Decaf coffee and salt free brothes

I personally don't eat Pasta or bread at all an would only have fruit if I didn't have the starch that meal. An example of that would be apple sause or half of a very small banana instead of toast at Breakfast.

I am going to start my pre-op liquid diet on the 9th. I have been low carb and low fat with 80 to 100 grams of Protein since Oct 2016. If I can help in any other way let me know. If I could have your name I would send you pictures of each phase from my book. I am sure it would make more sense that way. Didn't they give you anything where you went for surgery?

I am not allowed rice, Pasta or breads for another few weeks. But I have had food from fast food like chicken which is my downfall. I see myself slowly going back to bad habits now I know I can tolerate it. It takes so much discipline and I have to constantly try and make my mind aware. My problem is there are so many foods that I don't like but are healthy and on list of things to eat. I hate yogurt but found one I can tolerate so I can get my Protein in. But not all the time. I am trying to be happy about my weight loss but honestly it's a battle!! I need to work harder .

It is hard. You have to want to be healthy more than you want fast food. I know you've heard that WLS is just a tool to help you lose weight. You've made a decision to alter your body for the rest of your life for better health. This is the time to use the tool your surgeon gave you and fight against cravings and head hunger. It's hard to do at your stage. He'll, its hard at my stage but it gets easier every day.

Now I can turn away from junk because I want this.

Yesterday I had a non-scale victory (nsv). A friend called me because she was broke down on the side of the road. I went to help her out. She gets in the car and says she was on her lunch hour and asked if I'd take her to McDonalds to get something. I took her to McDs drive thru, ordered her lunch and only had a fleeting thought about getting something but it passed quickly and I didn't get a single thing. My craving for that crap is gone! I was super thankful. There was a time I couldn't drive past fast food without stopping.

Point is: fight your cravings and it will get easier to resist.

Good luck!

That's so true!! I keep trying to remind myself. I am amazed that I have no interest in cake, candy and some foods I felt I could not live without before. Thanks for the good advice because every day is a struggle!! I have 3 months till my cruise I really want to lose more weight before then!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
