Question - Insurance 4-6 month dietary requirement

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

So i was just wondering about the dietary supervised period (generally 4-6 months for most insurances).

Has anyone used their last four weigh-ins from their PCP visits? :o

Hoping i can cut out those four months with my previous monthly visits, lol :) Can't blame a girl for trying!

I think you can use that, but you might want to consider continuing the next 2 with them. Did they also document that they discussed diet options? I believe it is more than just documenting weight.

My surgical coordinator wants me to stick with one practitioner (even in the same office location) for my 6 months. Although my insurance isn't as strict as others, she doesn't want to leave anything up to chance.

Thank you sharing the information. My PCP and I have been seeing each other monthly for 2 years (where my weight is documented) but there are no notes saying we discussed diet, etc. So maybe i'll have to just start with that when I go back in and make sure it's documented.

I wouldn't just give up with what you have done so far. I would discuss with your surgical coordinator and have them look at your PCP's notes. Maybe it will meet the requirements.

How do you get the ticker of progress to show up?

It's in profile settings, I'm not exactly sure since the forum changed recently.

For my six month weight loss trial it had to have my weight documented, as well as what exercises I have been doing and discussion about what I will to different to work on my weight loss the next month. I had gained weight one month after a taking a stretch of steroids for an injury, so there had to be additional discussion on why I gained weight and what I will do to not only lose the weight I put on but additional weight as well.

The weight loss physician wrote the letter of medical necessity for my insurance company.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
