How many carbs do you limit to each day? When I met with my NUT last week I forgot to ask about what a good number of carbs is each day. I've been keeping it under 25 each day, with many days less than that, but I'm wondering if that's too high. I'm 4 weeks out and doing minimum of 60 grams of protien. NUT says up to 800 calories a day. Many days it's hard to meet that unless I do a Protein Shake.

There is nothing wrong with using Protein Shakes still to supplement so you meet goals.

Under 25 grams is fine, that not too low or too high.

I limit my carbs to 20 or less per day. I have been at that level for over 13 months now.

My nut said to limit them to about 15 grams of carbs per meal, so 45 per day at this point and by about a year out I should be getting 30 grams of carbs per meal, so 90 grams per day. She said as long as I keep it below 100 carbs and above 25 carbs I will be good. I've lost 81 pounds so it's working for me.

Thanks so much. That's reassuring.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
