Electric Bicycles

Recommended Posts

Last year I learned everything there was to know about electric bikes. Of course I've probably forgotten a bunch of it now, but I have test ridden a few, and they are an absolute blast!

They can be pricey, but they are generally marketed as a car replacement.

The thing I love about them is it makes riding possible when the biker is out of shape and/or there are hills. The electric assist levels the playing field.

For those that haven't heard of them, e-bikes are usually pedalled like a regular bike, but have a large battery and motor that helps boost the bike forward. The operation is virtually silent, unlike a gas powered motor bike.

So, anyone have one?

I had never heard of such a thing until I read your post. Sounds like a pretty cool thing.

It makes us biking together possible because of his health complications We have to learn how to keep building experiences together to stay together This is one way we found to enjoy an active life

Do NOT buy a Pedego electric bike. I bought one last year and it was a mistake. Their bikes are built in China with substandard parts. It arrived with issues and hasn't worked in awhile. And the company's customer service has not been helpful. Most expensive mistake I've ever made.

I love ebikes! They're especially great in cities with hills. I'm saving up my money for another one.

People generally love Pedego and have good customer service experiences. Do you think it is a problem with your dealer? You can try contacting Pedego themselves to see if they can do anything to help.

Even if that doesn't work out, there are several good brands :)

Oh man... well.. bikes are like shoes. A pair that is perfect for one person won't work for another.

But, first, here is a website that is a wonderful resource.

The best way to pick out a bike is by riding as many as you can, and be sure you have a good local dealer that you feel confident will help with maintenance and repairs.

Shop around :) Bosch motors are the best.

Thank you, Yes, that makes perfect sense.

You're welcome.

I went to an ebike expo that had a bunch of brands. I rode probably 20 bikes. My favorite was the Specialized Turbo. It doesn't have a Bosch motor, but no matter. My daughter was along and had a different favorite. And it was a small expo, so not all brands were represented.

Some of those bikes were great, others... not so much.

I did try a Pedego, and though a solid bike, wasn't my style.

One day I want to try a Reise and Muller. They are new to the US.... So I'll have to travel to try one.

My high end dream ebike is a Faraday Bike, i.e. their new step-thru model, the Cortland. I've test ridden it and it is a great city bike, and very stylish!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
